Right, i have enough dosh saved up for my bike and insurance..........i can either get a old blade or a newer R6, if i get the blade its cheaper than the R6 to buy, but the insurance is slightly higher, or i could get an R6 and pay less on insurance............ I dunno what to get !!!!!

I would take the blade Ex and pay alittle more on the insurance - its better than the R6.

mito....both the bikes u mention are good tools for what they are but caution is advised m8....they are the kind of tools that bite back if u abuse them....having a nice bike out the front doesn't justify becoming another casualty statistic. i understand that the CBR6 is more forgiving than most for "newbies" just hitchin' up for their 1st proper bike

How many years NCB have you got Mito ? Most insurance companies want at least two and normally three for a Blade. If it was me, I'd go for the Blade, purely because it's a bullet proof engine, there's loads about so, if you bin it, spares are plentiful and it's a Honda. I've had four blades and loved them all but I would agree with Scunj, take it very steady. What age of Blade are you looking at ? There are some bargains around but try to find a low mileage standard one, there are too many that've been thrashed and wheelied to death. Cheers Grim

Have 3 year ncb, although they have run out, the insurance company i have always used have already quoted me on those bikes, so i know i can insure them. I have ridden blades, r1's a busa's etc before, so i know i can ride them, however, i only rode them for a short amount of time... so maybe a blade is a lil too powerfull to start with.... i just dont want a hornet or a bandit, every1 seems to go for them as first "proper" bikes..... i want summit sporty and fast !!!

well i have had a cbr6 and now have a blade and I can tell u that they r both very forgiving. yes the blade is quicker but will only go as fast as u twist the throttle.

Why would anyone take a perfectly good Honda and spray it Kawasicki colour ? I want to know who Mito's insurance company are as well if they'll insure him on a blade with no NCB. They must be the dogs. I rang around every company I could find until, eventually, I found one who would insure me with 2 yrs NCB on a blade and that was only one company. I was 28 as well. I do miss my old blade but it was just too small (929 FI blade) I sometimes wonder why I got rid of it until I twist the throttle of the Blackbird and then it all comes back to me ;-) Cheers Grim

grim, I got insurance on my blade after I had only been riding 6 months. the insurance company I was with for the cbr6 wouldn't insure me so rang round its a company called express insurance they were the only place I found that would insure me and didn't want to charge me 3 grand lol however they did charge me a grand instead but they also took into account my 2 NCB that I had on the car. Oh and btw I agree with ya grim y would u want to paint a bike that nasty green colour. Oh well wouldn't do if we all liked the same would it lol

Please can somebody help me out with the "Green Campaign", i'm starting to get a bit paranoid!!! :o) Another goodun to try is The Policy Shop, they might be able to discount a premium for you. They managed to cut £200 from this years tpf&t cover with a lower excess and better legal cover, etc and i've got no NCB either!

The blade is better looking, but Id go for the R6, although Ive never owned a blade, I did the Ron Haslam school on a Blade, found the blade a bit boring...most people on the road dont take their bikes to the limits, so an R6 will keep you up with most people....in respect of Insurance....H&R in scotland insured me on an 2001 R1 with 0 NCB for £400
