well folks i returned home an hour ago and after a two hour drive/skid home i can honestly say......I ACHE ALL OVER!!!!!!
As usual the day started with me getting lost (grrrr) after arriving a little late we got kitted up and had the spiel (safety talk) before i had to go and view the track, now because i was slighlty late i got driven round in a 4x4 by some nutter who decided to show me the track first hand!!!! one of the guys videoed it on his phone and after watching it i can honestly say i've never seen a non-rally car leave the ground and catch some air like that!!!
I got to choose my weapon of choice, a brand new Honda 250x...it felt massive and it got heavier as the day went on ( due to me picking it up from the mud and snow all day!) but she was a trusty steed and we eventually had a mutual understanding of each other, that being that she wanted to go through the deepest snow covered, ice bound, jarring piece of track she coould find and i just wanted to get round without falling off.....needless to say she (from now on called 'spawn of Satan') won, i swear ive never fell off something so much without it hurting.....well it did hurt a few times but the ratio of off's to pain was pretty good.....that must of been the four inches of snow we were riding on!!
A
fter being cold and exhausted i opted for the smaller 100x....not just a smaller engine but a waaaaaay smaller bike and i flew off a jump and it kinda flew on without me!! After trying the 450x and not getting on with it too well due to not being able to put the power down and it getting heavier with each wobble/off i knew where i had to be.....
So back to spawn of satan for me....after getting slightly used to sitting or standing straight and used to using the bars' to turn instead of my body screaming at me 'lean into the turn and counter-steer' we got along much better and after a spot of lunch i felt refreshed, caffiened and fag-ash fresh we went out again....OMG i must have got cocky cos i was just getting air all day!! i think i did pretty good but in comparison to what ya's see on the tv it blatantly wasnt but i was having fun and even using 3rd gear!!
Its such a rush going up a hill/jump at 30-40mph (it couldnt have been that fast Surely??) and just launching ya'self into the air and then a bigger rush/ relief when ya land the beastie you have got to try it to understand it. Then it started to snow and rain so the near useless goggles they give you were well and truly steamed up so they got binned and it was really getting C-C-C-cold so we kinda gave up the ghost........i was soaked through when we eventually finished but as well as feeling truly uncomfortable my smile kept me feeling good!
At 175 quid it aint a cheap day but its a great day, so i've only one thing left to say and thats massive TY to my lovely missus Naomi for one of the best birthday presents i've ever had....MWOAH! thanks hunny xx
