bear they will be doing there gold award. apparently they do "easy" routes like round the peak district for bronze and silver and then have to "hard" routes like lake district, highlands or brecon beacons for there gold.

actually it doesnt have to be just walking it can be other stuff like conservation, helping your community, learning a new skill, physical recreation or going on expaditions. it takes six months for a bronze, a year for a silver and minimum of 18 months for a gold you can start at fourteen , but cant do gold till your sixteen plus. anyhow hope that helps

your right mandi they have to do the service, skills and physical sections as well as the experdition. bronze and silver both take 6 months but the gold takes 1 year it only takes 18 months if u haven't done your silver and u have to complete it by the time u r 25.

Stuart is on his silver just now part school and part scouts all the activities are worth while if you need some ideas for some of the challenges I will be able to throw a few in. tell her to enjoy it though

ive got my bronze and silver awards, and im almost finished gold, i should be done when i do my expedition in summertime! it can be really really really tough! we had to wake up once at half past one in the morning in torrential rain with all our stuff soaked incluing the food (it was the worst june weekend in 20 years) and walk the 12 km to finish our walk by 9 that morning... it was so tough! but SO MUCH FUN!!! Sandie: it can be sooo shitty but seriously keep at it cos once youve completed the award its sooo cool (you get a sweet wee badge and a certificate) and my friends done gold and the party with the queen sounds VERY formal, but fun! so deffo try for that lol!

Got as far as silver with the ACF (So much more FUN then the scouts!) but I'm a Republican and so felt I shouldn't take the gold as I would have been forced to assassinate Phil at the presentation ceremony. If you want to do something unusual for your Silver / Gold expedition check this lot out http://www.world-challenge.co.uk/, my eldest is hoping to go in 18 months time.
