I phoned my local yamaha dealer today to get a quote for a main fairing stay, you know the one for the headlights and clocks and top fairing. it came to £206.36!
Out of interest i went onto bikebandit.com, to see how much it would cost me there, and the total including all taxes and shipping with the part came to $304.31.
Which is roughly £155, and i'll have it within 2weeks.
How crazy is that? are we paying over the odds or what? worst thing being that it is for exactly the same part with the same part number!!
I couldnt beleive it.

Darkside: the thread isnt about speed camera's or coppers. its about rip off prices for parts for bikes. Read MCN? ffs i wouldnt use that rag to wipe my ars* on.
as for getting hassle off plod cos yer wearing leathers.... simple buy cordura! its better , waterprooof (ish) and warmer too.
As for getting caught on camera breaking the speed limit. quit bleating, if ya cant do the time dont do the crime! (not many speed cams up here so i can act like a looney when the urge takes me lol).
oh and bazz it may well be cheaper from the sates but wait till the package arrives with the import duty to be paid and the charge from the carrier too.... doubt there will be much saving if any unless yer lucky.

A wee tip, I've bought quite a few bit & pieces for my bike from the US. If you (alledgedly) ask the seller to mark the US. Customs form with the item described as a gift or warranty replacement & tell them to put the value as no more than $74, the item will come straight to your door with no import duty/VAT etc needing to be paid. For the benefit of any Customs officers who may be reading this, i of course have never done it and being as honest as the day is long wouldn't dream of trying.

there is no outright and gratuitous swearing allowed on the forum. so darkside ...be told!
make a point if you like but do it without swearing. and heres a thought if summats really bugging ya open a new thread..... oh and calling folk sunday riders wont endear you to anyone... bearing in mind froog used to own a bike traing school he would be rididng daily whatever the weather and being as he comes from aberdoom (where the weather is known to be less than pleasant most of the time) i would suggest he puts up more miles in a week than you do in a month!

yes outrageous bazzoka - everything's cheaper in the u.s. over here we're MEANT to be vat-free but because everything comes to us from the uk or europe everything costs more. vat-free is a joke.
