Why should we be made to pay!If they cant be bothered to learn to speake english they should pay for traslators out of there handouts.I'm sure if we lived in there country they would pay for a translator for us, (NOT)

blairs latest speech on immigration went along the lines of if you dont like it here dont come here. So maybe its sinking in that a lot of folk are hacked off by the huge number of immigrants. Its also been said that all immigrants who apply to stay on a permanent basis will have to show an ability to speak english, perhaps blair and co have noticed the amount of cash being wasted on translation services too.

£100 Million a year!Think of all the homeless people living in this country. That could build so many homes for them. And for the elderly people scared of putting there heating on because they cant afford to.That money could be used to give them a easier life. It's about time the goverment and these f---ing do gooders got there priorities right.I went right off the rev counter then.Sorry!

its ok colin this sort of thing is getting to people.
If u go to a non English speaking country apart from for legal stuff u r on your own .............. thats excatly how it should be here.
so in short if u know someone waiting for an operation the money they spend on translators could have had them in and sorted by now ......... instead of cutbacks and long waiting lists.

I think if we went to live in some our their countries we wouldnt even get handouts, never mind money for translators....We have a russian lady on checkouts cant speak english wel at all, some hungarians and polish who all sit intheir little corner at break times and jabber away in their languages i mean how rude is that!!

in government terms 100 mill is a drop in the ocean its £1.66 per head of population. 100mill divided by 60 mill.
it may well build a couple of hospitals (or not) but it would still leave staffing em and equiping them. it could indeed pay for 800 odd council house builds but they dont want the hassles of being a landlord.
it would pay for lots of various opps though (assuming we had the surgeons to do em and the nursing staff to look after the patients, which we probably dont).
100 mill to individuals is an obscene amount of money (4.5 mill a year in interest before tax etc).Perhaps the idea is to make sure the immigrants learn the lingo asap so they understand thier responsibilities to the country that is sheltering em (i kinda doubt that too mind). governments will always waste money in schemes like this (so will the conservatives that look like being the next government). There wont be change, our political system dosnt allow for it. We all know that either labour will get back in with a reduced majority or the cons will get in by the skin of thier teeth, lib dems are and always will be an also ran. greens, bnp, monster raving looney etc will never make the grade to getting folk into parliment. Voters will never back a new party (they just dont have the clout of the big three). how we all vote is largley down to the press media and big business anyway, if murdoch wants labour out of power his papers will all switch to the cons and urge folk to vote that way, and no matter who you vote for government will win! the status quo will remain (not the group of three chord wonders). the only way to change is through revolution (previous governments have made sure that wont happen , no right to bear arms, firearms largely illiegal, etc), chances are they didnt need to make any effort because the apathy of the british subject is so prevelent.
