Heres an idea. If you all want the site to continue then.
1, Post links to it on as many other sites as you can (providing they allow it)
2, Tell your mates about it.
3, Stop moaning about it.
4, Make an effort to make new members very welcome, just like bear says he has done. be nice to people in the room and take an interest in them.
5, I'll spend a few hours a week writing new code for it to make it more enjoyable. I can do things link add a links page, add a classified area where you can offer your bike bits for sale, add a meet section etc. Let me know of any other ideas.
Let me know what sort of stuff you would like.

Any chance of links in posts actually being made clickable Mark instead of having to copy and paste into address bar ?
Pretty Please

thing is a lot of folk who sign up never use the forum or chatroom.... a welcome message after they fill in their details telling em the best way to interact with the other members and get to know folk is to use the facilities.
oh and a "sticky thread" option would be handy too.
things are pretty quiet in the chatroom these days and not too many fights or slanging matches going on anymore which i think is a good thing all in all.

I know you may think this sounds a bit daft, but I use a dog forum which is brilliant. They have sections which are totally unrelated to dogs, but they also have health and training sections, and pups available etc
Surely this sort of thing could be translated to bike problems, advise section etc., bikes for sale, parts for sale
They also email you whenever a thread that you have contributed to has a new response

I have said to Mark before that I am happy to help with the site if he is too busy. I really don't mind and I it would not be to turn everything upside down or change loads of things.
On another site I run for somebody we have some 20 forum sections. Some are announcements only, some are various classified sections, some are general rooms etc etc.
I suppose at the end of the day it's Marks website and everyone has a life to get on with and many people do not realsie how much time is involved doing a website and more so, keeping it up to date and making changes. Personally I think is a good website as it is, but on the down side for the amount of people that have registered it does sometimes seem quiet (ish ......until Roeby and the shopping mob get on here).
By the way Mark it's about 01.24am ( just got in from work ) and keep getting this error.
"Database error: Invalid SQL: SELECT message_title FROM forum_messages WHERE message_id=
MySQL Error: 1064 (You have an error in your SQL syntax near '' at line 1)
Session halted."

A few ideas then.
The trade site i use has a swap shop area, where its anything goes for items either for barter or sale.
There is a "quote" system where if in reply to an earlier post you can "quote " the original post in context, which is rather handy as it means your reply is in context. Thus not being misread, which obviously stops any arguments in the first instance.
I know we can cut and paste, but a quote is an instant reference to the thread and everyone can see it then.
Links are enabled on screen so no need to cut and paste.
Pictures are enabled on threads, now i know BOS has enlightened some of us on this feature (And cheers for that BOS) But to be able to do it within the site would be good. Not wishing to detract from the gallery, proper pics and stuff should always be posted there. But to enable some visual jokes into the threads would be fun ect.
Another idea, just installed is the ability to edit your OWN posts. This is an invaluable feature as we sometimes get a technical item incorrect and now have the advantage of modifying the post, also this helps when you get it totally wrong and you can edit the lot out and leave an apology instead (wherever you go there are always arguments, lol).
So just a few ideas.
I know a lot more code has to be run, but it would enhance a Great site into a world class one.
Do i get admin rights after that?
I know, i know i`ll shut up now.
muwhahahahaha

Yes, as I explained or tried to we can lock down our own threads. Quite handy, but can be unfairly used. So in fact you could say something and then prevent replies. Fortunately there are more moderators and they can relive the thread if deemed unfair.
cheers
