I would like to see a host of new prisons built and fully staffed. one prisoner one cell. the cell to have one bed one bog and one wash basin. I agree that the cons should all be made to work and pay there way. there is however no excuse for vermin in the old nicks. if a con is bitten by a rat for instance they could (and no doubt will, succesfully) sue for damages. i dont hold with making their life easy on the inside. and i certainly believe that longer sentances should always be handed down to the worst offenders (a 3 strike and yer out rule should be in place as in the US) i dont approve of asbo's what a crock of shit they are. if you break the law you should expect to be sent down simple as. But you are sent to prison as a punishment, rather than sent to prison to be punished! there is a big difference.

thing is the prison staff have to put up with the rats and cockroaches too! and if a con or prison officer catches some disease from the vermin its the tax payer that foots the bill. better to get rid of the infestations than to put up with lengthy hospital treatment and law suits dont you think?

I'm strongly in favour of the death penalty or capital punishment. Sod the do-gooders that's how we've got over crowded prisons and teenagers with no respect for anyone. That and letting kids have kids are responsible for a hell of a lot of bad things.
