Its very interesting to see the response's, what we have to realise is the establishment in the form of the local constabulary are out to stop us one way or another. We ride rockets ships under the guise of motorbikes, if we dont start helping ourselves then we cant moan when it all goes tits up. As for the "I know my limitations" and "I am sure even advanced riders have accidents" comments where to be expected. Its not your limitations should only be concerning yourselve about, it is the arse hole in jeans and tea shirt, and the numpty with big bore exhaust you should be looking out for, along with 100's of other things, If I told of a way to save 10% on a new teley or computer, you'd jump at the chance !!!!!!!! doing the advanced does not affect the size of yer penis, it may keep you alive it may not, but you wont know till you try it........there are more of us being killed or injuerd weekly than there police riders !!!!!! ps Hi Cathy hope you and yours are all well.

i have done 2 bikesafe days with Kent, and Humberside police respectively. both were great days and i learnt more than i could have possibly taken in. has made me a much smoother rider and a hell of alot more aware. even i notice the difference, and am engaging my brain more... it is our own individual choice to ride however fast we see fit, why not give yourself the best chance to ride as fast as you like safely? all for half the price of a track evening at cadwell? gotta be worth a look surely?

"As for the "I know my limitations" and "I am sure even advanced riders have accidents" comments where to be expected" I take your point vfor, as i said those things myself I wasnt saying advanced courses are a bad thing, of course they are and i intend to def do that. Was just trying to point out that if you dont approach riding sensibly with maturity, vigilence and caution out on the roads it wont matter how good a rider you are or not and that counts doubly for the idiotic types you mentioned! Have a great day all.

The above is all well and good and, being an old fahrt, I tend to agree with it. But we're forgetting one thing here, motorbikes have ALWAYS attracted the "live fast, die young" mentality. My dream bike when I was small was an RD250LC BECAUSE it was rumoured to be the most mind furtling thing on two wheels and the fact that it ws graced with the soubriquet "Widowmaker" only added to its allure! I remember quite a few from the locality who were killed during "Chippy races" and know quite a few who have made it through to rheumatism and piles. Keep racing for the track. Only YOU decide how fast you go, no-one else has any say in the matter. Stay lucky.

I'll probably get slated for saying this but it tends to be the sportsbike riders who think they know it all and talk about there triumphs over other sportsbike riders, having undertaken them at 90 on a blind corner, etc, etc. Now don't get me wrong I'm a sportbike rider and I'm not saying that we/they are all the same but it is a majority! I signed up to Kent IAM a few months ago but have only been on one observed ride due to a numpty sportsbike rider thinking he knew what he was doing with my bike.... never again will I let someone who doesn't know what they're doing touch my bike (it's cost me over £500 already). What I can't stand is people not be observant and I now refuse to ride with the likes of these folk, also people who think that because they're on a bike they rule the road. We all have our moments but I'm becoming more and more level headed each time I ride and I chose who I ride with more carefully. I don't claim to be the fastest person on the road and I'm not, I don't preach to people about how to ride there bikes, I don't suffer fools lightly now and I certainly don't condone people saying "I'm safe" when they have a picture on this forum of their speedo at 176 on a road not track. I will say that I am an observant rider as I don't think anyone can claim to be 100% safe not even Police riders will not claim that. As long as people recognise that all it takes is a cat/dog running out in front of you, a diesel spill, tyre blowout or similar they might start thinking more about having "room for danger". Ride safe.... remember shiny side up!

just look at the superbike.co.uk web site-the latest poll is do trackdays make you a better rider on the road.most who answered say yes. Best Im not on the road when they are then!!! I did an advanced course when I was a plod rider cos I had to-but Im still around and riding bikes after having a licence for 34years and 28 bikes without a blot or splat so doung the Advanced does work

The phrase "jumped up little pricks" springs to mind, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr it makes me so angry. I must say that I've done alot of growing up with bikes over the last 18 months and pre that I may have been argueing on the other side but having now seen the consequences of "bad riding"...... blah blah blah

I beg to differ Froog. We have leathers in our shop that were worn when the rider came off at over 150mph on a track. His injuries extended to a broken wrist, which he got from the tank slapper before he came off. Apart from bruising, he was fine. I suspect the story would not have been the same had he been wearing jeans and jacket

True, but he still had skin and bones to protect. I agree that a lot depends on how you come off, but you may as well give yourself the best chance possible by wearing the appropriate kit
