Well, went riding with a group of fellow Buell owners Saturday. Really fantastic day. Weather was Puuuuuuuuuuuuurfect! About 1/2 way through our ride, the lead rider entered a long sweeping right hander. Unfortunately the road was covered in very small bits of gravel! My buddy lowsided, and hit the pavement hard! His Buell went skating across the road. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic. Bike is salvageable and really still rideable. Poor Eddie though has a collarbone broken in 4 places and will require reconstructive surgery to be performed Monday. He was wearing fully armored trousers and coat! Good thing too! As if that wasn't enough, one of the other riders noticed his rear tire was flat! After Eddie was cared for I decided to head back home as it was getting late. About 20 miles from home, i made a low speed merge and felt the rear end bobble just a bit. I attributed it to oil on the road and continued home. Upon arrival, I checked My rear tire. Found it was about 1/2 inflated and sported a rather large safety pin protruding from the tread! Guess there are 2 good morals here. You should always ride protected, and if you feel something odd, check it out!
