what is the point of wasps? whilst riding along minding my own business enjoying the warm day with my visor up a wasp decided to hitch a ride by slamming into my helmet... the orrible little sod didnt die on impact and sort of got jammed between the helmet padding and the side of my face. The ungratefull little git then proceded to sting my repeatedly just to the side of my eye. I couldnt safely pull over as i was in fast moving traffic so i just had to grit my teeth and carry on for about 2 miles (being stung all the while). eventually i pulled off the road and whipped off my helmet. the Wasp fell to the floor and was buzzing very angrily flat on its back. i assumed it had pretty well had it but no it got on its legs and started getting ready to take off. i squished the murderous wee beastie as there was no way i was gonna get stung by it again. now the right side of my face is quite swollen and very painfull and am feeling none to well. Bloody wasps kill em all.

well a few hours have passed and the swelling has gone can count about 8 sting marks in total dosnt hurt anymore and not feeling ill now either. will be keeping my visor down in future..... least untill it gets a bit cooler and the nasty bastids go off to hibernate.... its weird though the only two times i have been stung whilst riding its when i have had a full face lid on. the first time was a bee and it ended up down the back of my jacket the bee was on its last legs so to speak and stung me through my t shirt the single stinger managed to get me about 20 times as every time i moved the sting pulled out and went back in again. hmmmm think i will dig out my open face lid again as i never had any bug related injuries when i wore them (about 10 years).

Alright Bear, hope the stings are going OK! The purpose of wasps is to get fissed as parts on fallen fruit in the late summer and then fly around sideways looking for fights. God likes a joke as much as the next omnipotent concept for the gullible.

Being a member of the RSPW, I find it harsh that you all hate wasps. I think they are nice and cuddely, and bears reaction of stamping on the poor fellows head is outrageous. The little chap never asked to be caught in the helmet, and he would have probably got away with some simple behaviour therapy and a spell on probabtion. Death was a step too far. Should have kept the visor down.
