i am trying to decide between a bmw k1200lt, harley electroglide, and honda goldwing so i can ride with my wife or children on back for several hours - i am leaning toward the bmw since i currently have a dakar and like it - any suggestions about the 3 models?

its a case of horses for courses........ they are all capable of doing what you want of them. go and get a test ride of the BMW first before you make your mind up. (the k1200 will vibrate somewhat as did the K100 the only K series that didnt was the 750 triple). The Harley electraglide or even the road king would do the job but again high speed (you know what i mean lol) cruiseing will be tirsome due to the vibrations that a V twin produce . the Goldwing is a garbage scow ugly+ heavy and would you really want to be a goldwing owner??? your best bet is to go to a dealership and ride all three. take em for at least an hours ride each. do a bit of research on each bike find out how good the fuel economy is, find out if there are any owners local to you and ask them about how many miles on average do you get out of tyres, brake pads ect.which tyres are best for the bike/give the best milage/handling etc . find out if there are any bad points or good points for each model. Also you need to know that you have a good dealer network for whichever bike you buy, i assume (by your log in of vasculardoctor) that you wont be servicing or fixing them yourself. whatever model you choose have fun and stay safe.

hi there, and welcome to our little room. I have only ridden the BMW and the goldwing, but out of these two , it would have to be the bm for me if I wanted a tourer. goldwing tours but thats it, bmw has many more strings to its bow in my opinion. try all three for yourself first, and most importantly , have fun

I'm sure I would choose the BMW if I were to ever look down that road and type of bike. I never take pillions, so the problem will probably never arise.
