I'm having a crap day... CRY.....
Had people here last night and all of yesterday to see about buying my beloved Woody. (XJ600S). Test ride etc. For a woman who's just passed her test.
So everything goes well, price gets agreed, more than we expected for a bike so old. But Mr Linny has done his usual and moved the paperwork for the bike. Now has no idea where it is. So he spent 2 days looking for it and still no joy.
"No problem" we says, "we can get replacement papers. I'll go down to office and order them they'll be here in 2 days, I'll then ride the bike down to you". Problem solved. (Old and new owner must be present at post office to sign documents of ownership here).
Go to RDW office in Veendam 15 minutes ride away. (RDW - our equivalent of DVLA). Only one problem, Frame number on their database doesn't match the frame number on bike.
So I come home, take a pic of frame number ON BIKE, go back down show her the pic. No difference. It doesn't match and she still says it's not their problem cos it says different on her screen . OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHHHHHHHIT
So long and short of it is,
1) Bike sale has now fallen through
2) Can't get my Akrapovic can now cos if this (was using the money from sale)
3) Lost money cos we didn't charge em for rooms etc cos of hassle
4) Have a bike that can't be used, or sold til it gets re-registered correctly
5) I've been riding round on this thing for 2 years illegally and without insurance!!
6) Need to go through the hassle of getting it re-registered, and that costs money too!
OK. The moral of this story is..... how many of you actually check the registration documents that come with the car/bike you buy against the numbers stamped on the vehicle?? I never have. But won't be making that mistake again.

Doesn't sound like a particularly great time you've been having Linny.
I'm off to check that I've got everything in order now :o)
Hope that you get things sorted soon x

I'll get it sorted, just a pain in the butt.
It now looks like the original importer of the bike was the Bike shop. He bought a number of bikes from the States and registered them all at the same time. So it's looking likely that a mistake has been made when registering them here for the first time. Probably sent one of his wee boys from the back of the workshop and he fecked up when filling in the forms!
Ultimately it's cost me a bit of dosh and my new can (cry).
