After 47 years of happy marriage Abraham passed away and his grieving widow contacted the Golders Green Gazette to place a notice in the obituary column.
When the Editor asked what she wanted the notice to read she said, “In loving memory of my beloved husband of 47 years. I shall always love you and be faithful to your memory until we meet again. Your ever loving wife Rebecca”
The Editor said “We can print that for you in tomorrows edition and the cost will be £150”.
“Why so expensive ?“ asked Rebecca.
“Well”,said the Editor, “the cost is £5 per word and you have thirty words there”.
Rebecca paused for a moment or two then said “ Change the notice to read ‘Abrahams dead’”.
“Fine” the Editor said,” that will be £25.
Rebecca then said “That can’t be right, it’s two words at £5 per word so that’s £10”,
The Editor replied that it was £5 per word with a minimum of five words.
Rebecca thought for a few moments and then replied” OK,OK,OK, change the notice to read………………………
wait for it,
