ok ppl i have a question.... last night i was out and about, and on this nice strech of streight road, i was confronted by an oncoming car and parked cars... i slowed down and once free to do so i opned up my R6 and it set off the road fast like normal... but this time ended up on 1 wheel... i didnt mean to so it was a little shock and i came down hard (no wobble tho) just curious what kinda damage doing wheelies and stuff causes to your bike (if nothing goes wrong) also anyone know the easy way to do a wheelie with out me trashing my bike? (what gears to use)

Being a Harley Rider I cannot say for sure on an R6 what gears to use. I will say that if you see no leaks on your front-end from setting her down hard, nor feel any real handling problems I do not see how you could have done any damage. There is another site that may be able to help you as well. Check out http://www.fireblades.org

Damage caused by stunts on the public highway? 1)Damaged wheel bearings. 2)Damaged head races. 3)Damaged/buckled wheel rims. 4)Possible frame/fork damage. and the worst damage of all is to image of motorcycling created by doing "accidental" wheelies on the public highway!!!! The throttle hand is controlled by the brain!!

well bobro as im new to my R6 too i must say they are extremelyyyyy difficult to keep the front wheel down, im a little too hard on my throttle just now without the intention of lifting the wheel but it happens and i shite myself...... i find that if u dont wind it up in 1st gear or 2nd u can keep it down.... personally i wouldnt do wheelies as they f**** up ur bearings and front end oh and if u fall off.......u

I tend to agree with outlaw about wheelies in general on public roads howver if you do want to accelerate fast without doing a wheelie lean forwrad over tank as u accelerate trhis puts more weight on front and tends to keep it down

lean too far forward and yer back spins up..... yer being impatient, thinking speed rather than feeling it....i'll explain....u think...oooo nice straight road open it up and lets see what it does rather than hmmmmm quick road, cops, tractors, animals, dozy can drivers, blind junctions and a million of other things that can ferk u off the bike. whilst yer up on the wheelie (and for a while after it) u are not in control of the machine and u can eaasily be looking like a pillock rather than a bikegod.........outlaw has laid down the fundimentals of continual stunts on yer bike, hope this helps with the rest

You won't damage anything too badly (unless you loop it), forkseals and headrace bearings can all be replaced cheaply. God knows why people are so precious about machines - live a little! Once you get hooked on wheelies you'll just become a better and better rider. Just trying the stunts gives you so much confidence and bike control in a really short time. Stay off the roads tho while you're learning - find a huge carpark, all you need is on stuntlife (.com). Stoppie practice will save your life one day. If every rider on the roads knew the limits of their skill and tyre grip there'd be less casualties. Or go-offroading same result more skills less spills on roads.

hmmmm a few years back (1990 ish) i was visiting a breakers yard for some bits and did see a brand spankin new gixxer (usd forks) at first glance i thought it had been converted into a funny bike (you know top fueler drag racer) it was very low and the fron end looked to be streched out. on closer inspection i realised it wasnt a drag bike but had in fact snapped both forks ....yep snapped. i asked the breaker what had happend. it had been wheelied and landed hard was the awnser. now i have seen gixxers wheely and stunt for years now and they always seem to be fine at the end of the day, but i will allways remember that particular one. so the live a little and dont be so precious about yer bike speech made me raise my eyebrows a bit. oh the rider of the bike was killed outright as the bike landed and the forks snapped he was flung from the machine........... the rest of the bike looked immaculate, odd one really but there ya go.

This is the biggest load of shit ive seen in ages pmsl!!!!!!!! why not prevent stoppies by being more observent and how is wheelieng gonna make you a better rider? maybe advanced lessons or ron haslam race school will teach you a hell of a lot about your bike and limitations

I cannot believe I am reading this crap on here. It's sometimes hard enough keeping the law away from us without even discussing poor riding on public highways. There is a big bike meet near me where the local ( and often non-local ) stunt gods ( cough cough bullshit ) turn up and do there thing. The police have come down extremely hard on bikers in Essex due to idiots like this, and it's all bikers that suffer the consequencies. Idiots should be banned for life from the road full stop, and that goes for the other inconsiderate morons that ride in shorts and t-shirts and let there not so bright girlfriends sit on the back equally well dressed. Take up skateboarding low life scumbags.

Jeezus lighten up FFS whats the harm with doing wheelies or stoppies, spose scraping pegs or wasting knee sliders is also to be frowned upon, some people on here ought to get out more and try to find out that biking has allways been a little bit anti conformist, not advocating wheelying down a busy high street, feck so glad i left the nanny state

the problem i have with stunts been done on the road is this (and its happened to me) some biker who isn't with us does a stoppie infront of me ............. arggghhhhhhhhh sh*t quick where do i go????!!!!!! needless to say it was a close call. what if someone pulls a wheelie near me and they go arse over tit in front of me and collects me on the way? ..................... its wrong and out of order on a public highway ............ u wanna do that sort of stuff go to some unused area where if u come off u can only damage yourself, i don't want taking with ya thank you very much, i don't like anyone other mark and sandie that much that i'm willing to die for em!!!!!!! i'm not trying to stop anyones fun, and i'm not been a spoil sport, i just don't wanna die cos u ferk up!!!!!

If your opposed to wheelieing and condem it, can you say you never speed?? if you can fair play, if not dont ya think thats a bit hypicritical??
