i found a kick start bike was best if the elecric boot gives up you can always kick the beast into life.

I agree with Bear, cos i've had problems in the past with electric starters in the cold, so a bike with both at least has a backup on days when it doesn't want to get out of bed!

However, some of us old farts are lazy. If my electric start does not work I'll probably call a cab.

hey...kick-start looks good and is totally satisfying on the 1 in 500 times that yer surrounded by people on a bright sunny day and yer machine of choice actually fires first go. for the other 499 times electric boot was one of the better processes of bike engineering evolution....take it from me, i once had a norton...kickstart sucks big time

most modern stuff dont come with a kicker and mikes right modern electrics are reliable enough that bikes now no longer needs a kickstart. but for preference i like a kick start, seems more satisfiying somehow.

Try my bike when it's cold! I want an electric start! LOL, but seriously I kicked my ex boyfriends bike years ago to start it for him, and the split bin flew out on the grass at the rally we were at. Could we find it? Could we feck! So erm on the more relialbe front with less to go wrong, yes providing the fecker doesn't fall apart. Best option is to have both, some older bikes have both...can't think of any off hand. The Aprilia RS 125 has both tho! Gix's old CM 200 had both aparently, so scratch that last remark!

hehehehehehehehe, just remebered a cartoon from years ago in BSH it was a pic of a bloke standing next to some old british single and his right leg was hugely muscled while the rest of him was well skinny. its a sight gag i suppose but it made me smile after reading si's post
