An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. but the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them." "For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house." Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them. To all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers and NEVER HAVE REGRETS!!!!

thats nice for the time being, but the moral of the story i think has been missed by some of you. fact is she is wasting water to enjoy beauty! the water is to keep her alive, the flowers once pick she wil watch die! wasted water just for decoration moral is, not everything is to do with good looks. the woman was stupid and shallow. sorry to rip it all apart but its just my veiw.

I agree; the water is more important than the flowers, but what about her will to live? Maybe looking at those flowers keeps her believing in life and carry on living (a happy life). I'm not a big softie, but what I do think is important is that it's all in your MIND. Happiness is created by you.

i see were your going hellohonda but the fact remands, she could of made half as many trips with out that broken jug, saved time effort or had more water. i one of the first things to go when your dehidrated is your vision, and flowers wouldnt of bin much use then. she must of bin getting a bit dehidrated she was talking to a jug!! if i was her i would of moved nearer the water!

thats philosophy for ya. thing is the woman carried the two LARGE pots one on either end of a pole (balance) the pots were large (one pot per day for drinking ect,)the story infers she is alone, the other pot to water her flowers. beauty is transient (it fades with time as do flowers once cut). all in all i like the story but it has different levels if you read it a couple of times.

Take it u live in a dry region then bro. Shame u are so cynical though.....prehaps the woman di have good intentions and even provided others with water...............also sight isnt the 1st sence to leave when deprived of moisture, unless ya in a sand filled location and even then its down to sunlight.

you get blured vision when you get dehidrated, and your head feels light. and no i live in blackburn water falls from the sky like no tomorrow here! and not a grim look on life, everything should be thought of in more than one way.
