ok a mate of mine has offered me a GPZ600 race replica from around 1980's. its been in great condition till last month where is has suffered a fault on one of the earth lines. he has offered the bike to me for £500 (which i can afford) all i need to do is have the wire found and fixed......
My bike as you know is nothing short of a small nightmare and ive been looking for a new one for quite some time now all to no prevail, untill now.....
Can i have you imput please? is it a good buy? i planned to buy it and keep my honda till this one is fixed then sell the honda. Is this a wise idea? or am i throwing my money into something that is equally as unreliable?

Seeing as your bike mechanic friend says "don't touch it" Sev I guess thats the best advice you can get.

500 pounds is to much for a GPZ600, especialy a non running one
I have a friend who buys and sells old bikes. The most he's got recently for a GPZ600 is about 550, for a very tidy, running, taxed & tested one.
Electrical problems (especialy intermittent ones) can be expensive to fix as often you end up swapping bits till you find the fault. And a faulty earth wire sounds a bit dodgy to me
I think you will find alot of better bargains on E-BAY.
