Sorry if some of you find this a bit dis-tasteful but I found it feckin hilarious!!! It's the bit marked with "s that I found really funny - too unbelieveable, this press cutting has been taken from a large aviation publication!!! Jet engine kills engineer An aircraft engineer has been killed by being sucked into a jet engine. "Workmates found only the maintenance worker's boots lying on the ground under the Boeing 737 airliner". According to reports the pilot started up the plane's two engines, not realising they were undergoing checks. Within seconds, the engineer's body had been blasted through the huge rotor blades. The plane had to be taken out of service while the engine was cleaned. The incident led to an investigation by airport authorities.

nope...the starter motors have significantly more power output than range rover v8.... and there is no resistance to the turbine head(ya can spin them with ya finger) prior to start sequence. its a classic case of the co-pilot/pilot eyeballing the engine intakes before starting!... even before fuel is introduced to the engine anyone standing in direct line of the intake would be sucked through the primary fans... poor chap would have been vapourised if whilst he was being chomped on by the primary the FADEC start introduced fuel

Its just reminded me of a story i read in the paper years ago about a girl who did a parachute jump for charity , she coulndt steer the parachute properly and landed on top of a helicopter's rotor while it was warming up. NOW that had to have been a painfull and terrible way to go.
