Can't get me ead around the concept - I must be doing it though as i seem to stay on me bike round bends or maybe it's me whose around the bend!!

Not necessarily, you can get round bends without counter steering, but counter steering will enable you to lean over more and get around the bends quicker. I think, if I remember what my instructor said to me all those years ago. Have a look at the flick of the wrist books they got some stuff about counter steering in them.

countersteering is an odd concept but it does work. for a left hand cornerpull slightly on the right hand side of the handle bar and vice versa for a right hand bend. it does take some practise but eventually you will get it and going round bends at speed will become easy.

the best way to see how it works is to do it on a straight road and see what happens when you gently push one bar forward. the bike will fall to that side. countersteering also works against a crosswind

i find that when your going fast in a corner you can steer the bike with one hand really,not that you'd like to but say your in a right hander you can steer it with your right hand etc,takes a bit of confidence but it does work, takes time really but when you start getting faster it becomes easier
