When I had my RS125DX the RD125 was just discontinued IIRC.
The RS was the single cylinder version, more classed as a commuter bike. It was fairly easy to increase power by rejetting using a "spanny" and lapping the head. Mine was good for 85MPH.
Friend had the Kwap 125 disc valve, slightly faster. Cannot remember the model or name even after a search!
About then the RD250/350 elsies came into life. Phoarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Great bikes.

The 70's were interesting as you had such a large variety of models in the japanese manufacturers ranges ...

some of the engine sizes that come to mind being ...

50 / 100 / 125 / 175 - 185 / 200 / 250 / 350 / 380 / 400 / 500 / 550 / 650 / 750 / 900 / 1000 / 1100 and higher as time wore on into the 80's

Now days due obviously to different finanncial climates / legislation and so on,
it feels like you can have small, medium, large or extra large! rofl

gawd im getting old !!! lol
