Well goddamn, some of us do. Just a bit slower than you were used to!

Hi- I need some advice. My neighbor is working on his bike and is constantly revving the engine. He has been working on it for weeks, every evening and all day on the weekends. It's always on and always revving- less than a minute will pass between revs. I'm curious- why would he need to be constantly revving? What could he be doing that is taking so long to figure out? And is there a tactful way of addressing the issue? Other neighbors' screams of obscenity haven't worked, and I'm a nice person who would want to take a more respectful approach. Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just more patient than most. But really, what is he doing?

Nothing constructive for sure.
There is no reason for what you describe. I live near a bike maintenance shop and never have this problem.
Can you not have him served with a noise nuisance notice?

Ya, I'm sure I could. I was just curious to know if he had any good reason to be doing that. I think he has a right to work on his bike in his own driveway, but if he is being a jerk for no reason maybe that's the only way to get him to stop.

If you can't get it going with bungee cords and electrician's tape it's serious.

Thanks. The Lizzie Borden murders happened in my town of Fall River, Massachusetts. There's a beautiful, creepy old cemetery down the street from me where they are all buried, and the ax and skull of Mr. Borden are kept in the archive of the historical society around the corner. They sell bumper stickers that read "Ax me about Fall River"
