Do many people ride Harleys in the UK?

What is the most popular bike type there (sport, cruiser)?

Harley's, well maybe when I'm sixty five, until then , not for me.

As far as wearing a helmet goes, I think even if it was legal not to wear one, most still would.
After all, there is no law against riding in shorts and T shirt but only the thick as sh#t type that would be willing to stick there knees and elbows into an electric sander do, most spend loads of dosh on decent clobber.

Hi Lady,
Well not really a sports bike, Ive got a Suzuki Bandit1200, done various mods to sport it up a bit but its still an upright traditional style bike.

Old injuries prevent me riding sports bikes for more than 30 Min's, if It wasn't for the leg cramps etc I would have a Suzuki GSXR1000 for sure.

I'm guessing adz, that is a photo of it...it looks very sporty, you've done a good job with it...

sorry to hear about the injuries..were they bike related?

:-) Thanks, yeah that's the Bandit alright !!

Yeah amongst other bits and Pisces the main problem was breaking both my legs in 1989, you would think all would be well by now, but I'm afraid I'm carrying that day for life.
I was on my Yamaha RD 500 and a car pulled out of a junction, not in front of me, into me !!!!

What about you, do you have a cruiser or sports?

ouch! I hate to hear about those sorts of accidents...or any that involve a bike..
glad you're doing better but I would imagine an injury like that would make a complete recovery a bit of a miracle..

I have a cruiser ...I have a Suzuki Boulevard C50 (800cc) ..she's my pride and joy : )

Yeah I guess you are right, but the miracle was they managed to save my right leg !!

800 cc cruiser, nice.
Bikes like that let you enjoy the open road and still take in the scenery, making for a very pleasant ride out instead of an insane, speed crazed thrash !
Enjoy !!!!

Two legs are always better than one..yeah..my wild racing days are over..er..maybe I never had them, at least on two wheels..

Wow...you described my ride to the tee...open road, low grumbling crawl through the hills and valleys.....ugh! I need to change my oil so I can get it out..the weather is just warm enough now..finally!

I want to ride so bad! Its been a long cold winter with too much snow : (

around the Alston (or to Lady - "that there place upon them there hills!) area is good for riding without a lid, most liberating.

however as ox says i would wear one most of the time, be daft not to

billy.....?

now ox, you're just making me sound like some kind of hick or something chewing on a piece of straw and cruisin' down country roads in my bib overalls...tsk tsk...

I would never never go without a cap on the open roads, ppl around here are maniacs on the road...but....i do enjoy the liberation factor in less populated areas....it is the most amazing feeling....

If you can't get it going with bungee cords and electrician's tape it's serious.

ok, so I had to cross the state liine from missouri into kansas and as i followed the yellow brick road into the land of oz i realized that kansas has no helmet law....(I already was aware of this but it still surprises me when I see ppl riding with no helmets)

so i'm driving down the interstate at about 120kph (a shaky conversion from 75 mph)

and i started noticing the bikers...all of them...men, women...no helmets..hair blowing in the wind......it always catches my attention and startles me when i see someone cruising without a helmet, especially when they are the same interstate that i was on in my car when i was stopped by constructon and the struck by the lorry behind me who decided to use me as a brake at about 88kph....grant it...a helmet probably wouldn't have saved your life in that iinstance....but....my point......drivers just aren't paying attention to wtf they are doing out there....not even worth it ..
