How important are good manners in today's society? How important is the school blazer displaying the badge and the insignia, usually in Latin, that determines what is the core of the school, and ultimately the child's dogma?

We have lost politeness in our society, where children stand up for the elderly and the pregnant, on a bus or park bench? I doubt it. For the most part, our children have become self-serving, uncaring individuals.

Society thrives on a basis of caring. I believe we have lost that, in our efforts to be the biggest and the best - the most aggressive.

We have chosen a road that makes us too PC, too willing to be bent by the powers that be.

I say, bring back the rod, and by the rod, I don't mean smashing children. Allow children to be children, and discipline them, in an appropriate way when they are out of line.

Teach them respect. Teach them to uphold the law in your own home or their will be a consequence.

Teach them that there is honour in being gentlemen and gentlewomen.

Is there anything wrong with that?
