Apologies to those who have already seen this…

Meet: 7.45am Tuesday 18th November, Park Lane Underground Car Park W1K 7AN
Ride Out (Go Slow): 8:00am via Smith Square, Westminster
Arrive: 8:30am Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QP
It’s time for Westminster to get their first wake-up call. We’re taking a slow ride to Westminster’s HQ to hand in petitions. But don’t rush off. You wouldn’t want to deliver an important document without getting a signature for it. In fact we should all get a signature. So, when a load of bikes and a load of riders turn up to get signatures, we’ll just have to hope we don’t cause any inconvenience to anyone. Especially parking officers or councillors.
This demonstration is for people on foot as well! This demonstration is supposed to allow you all to get your signature and then get to work, we understand people have commitments, so this demonstration is designed to cause least interruption, please come along, show your support, get your signature, please also spread the word on the demonstration. If you can’t make the meet (go-slow) at 7:45am meet us directly at Westminster City Hall, we will be arriving around 8:30am.
Please fill in the poll on the home page http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com to let us know you will be attending. Also if you haven’t already please also fill in the campaign commitment form so we can keep you informed of any vital campaign information.
Petition coming soon…(Will announce when, we need to fine tune it to).
Bring it with you on the day and we’ll see you in the queue.
18th November 2008 - Demonstration Media/Fliers/Poster Please distribute.

No chance of that happening considering what Kensington and Chelsea have done for bike parking and security.

Excerpt from their website

"From 1 April 2008 there will be two types of resident motorcycle permit available:

1. Motorcycle only permit – £32; this permit allows residents to park their motorcycle or scooter in any dedicated permit motorcycle bay in the Royal Borough.
2. Combined permit – £80; this permit allows residents to park their motorcycle or scooter in any dedicated motorcycle permit bay and any resident (car) parking bay;"

This is due to the additional bays made available to both residents and visitors.

Quote
"To address residents’ concerns about security and help to reduce crime, all permit-only designated motorcycle bays are now provided with locking ground anchors.

The Council has recently contacted a number of insurance companies to inform them of the scheme and provide details of the custom-made locking facilities that will now be on offer to residents. Several insurance companies will consider offering reduced insurance premiums for motorcyclists that have access to locking facilities."

Not trying to object to stopping fees for bikes parking when an effort like this is made its hard to fight against.

cheers

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
