Ok ... now this may come across as a bit non PC but you should all be used to that by now.
Today on the BBC news the government has gone on record to say they are going to allow 27,000 new immigrants from the commenwealth country of bangladesh (funny how they suddenly play the commenwealth card isnt it?). The reason for this is that Curry houses apparently, are suffering from a lack of kitchen staff/ chefs....
Now my point is this, surely Employers have a responsibility to train their own staff, its not as if there is a lack of unemployed folk in the country (and if community leaders are to be believed Asian youth is particularly affected by the blight of unemployment).
So how come they cant recruit from their own communities? or indeed offer training as chefs to anyone that can show some apptitude irrespective of ethinc background? Is it the case that they wont pay a decent wage and thus cant persaude anyone to apply?
Its not only Curry houses of course. the CBI have been moaning and whining for years about the expense of hiring in tradesmen and yet they abandoned their responsibility to train their future employee's (try finding a real apprenticship for your young uns these days). The TUC warned over 30 years ago that unless business invested in training then down the line they would ultimatly pay the price, and indeed that bird has come home to roost with avengance.
It would appear that government and employers alike took notice of the accountants who said that training costs too much . Hope they had learned their lesson but it would appear not and the folk who know the cost of everything but the value of nothing will no doubt still be flourishing for the next few decades.

A major problem is that school leavers in particular want to earn "mega bucks" after the first week. This inherently makes them shy away from so called menial and dirty work.
You also read more about qualifications these days, I have a degree in sociology or some such other meaningless piece of tat.
These new immigrants will work all hours for little pay and eventually end up owning their own business because they are willing to work.
We are becoming a nation of dole claimants and sickness benefit dependants and the Government is allowing it to happen. More of our taxes go on lazy good for nothing gits than gets contributed to hospitals and other more deserving causes.

must say that it is a shame that there are a lot of white british that are not prepared to put in the hours required and as Ox has said we are becoming a nation of claimants, not only that in some areas its already at the 3rd generation of them.

there are plenty of folk with few or no qualifications who are unemployed. traditionally folk who didnt do well academically were pushed into apprenticships and manual labour (the world needs ditch diggers too) Employers must do more to make training more attractive and government can do more also (indeed they are on about folk being kicked out of their council house if they dont work.
If employers need staff then offer a decent training package rather than rob 3rd world countries of thier workforce thus keeping them in such dire straights. A good start would be to level the minimum wage act so that everyone is entitled to the upper end of it (this government has always been keen on equality so let them do the right thing rather than discriminating agaist folk based on age). 5.50 per hour isnt much but its a hell of a lot better than dole money.........
