to all who thinks whites are racist Perhaps we should get rid of the term 'racist' all together and just
live our lives...
Michael Richards better known as Kramer from tv's Seinfeld. This
was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy
act. He makes some very interesting points.
Proud To Be White

How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.
And then there are just Americans.
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
You Call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,'
'Whitey,' 'Caveman' ... and that's OK.
But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head,
Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink ...
You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you,
so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP.
You have BET (black entertainment televison).
If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month , we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance'
OUR lives we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber
of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that?
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American
pageant, but any colour can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students
scholarships you know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges
in the US. Yet if there were 'White colleges' THAT
would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were
marching for your race and rights. If we marched for
our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and
you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce
our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a
white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats
up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a
threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud.
But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?
There is nothing improper about this thread.

whilst i agree with the sentiments of this i wont be passing it on..... laddo that plays kramer in sinefeld is a piss poor comic at best (as is the bloke who the show is named for by the way) and in part of his act he started calling hecklers in the audience various racist names this is why he is in court. not because he was trying to be funny but rather he was frustrated that the audiance saw through the hype and knew he was a talentless hack.
Having said that there are comments in the speech (by the way he didnt write that its been doing the rounds for quite some time) that i whole heartedly agree with. one race cannot be inherantly racist to all others just cos im white dosnt mean that i hate anyone based on the colour of his or her skin. In a free society where freedom of speech is guarenteed (as in the usa) it is puzzleing that anyone can be in court for exercising that right (no matter how distastefull or offensive).
Society as a whole will never move on until we stop seeing a black man or a white man but just see a MAN!
The word Nigger conjuors up all manner of ill feeling and hate. It is a word that we are/have been taught belittles both parties (ie the person its aimed at and the perosn that says it) however Rap artists refer to all and sundry as niggers and when pulled up on this obvious double standard they say we spell it nigga. its a cop out pure and simple it isnt an act of taking back a word/name .
If they are allowed to use a word why not everyone? I'll tell you why, cos it aint PC and if a white person said it they would be ostrasised by mainstream society (that bint from bristol on last years Big brother for instance).
surely it would be a better world if everyone could stop insulting each other based purely on race cos lets face it there are plenty of other reasons not to like someone, but to tar all for the actions of one is petty and ignorant.
not saying i dont do the same mind cos i am well known for my hatred for followers of a certain religion and dont get me started on the bloody french or the germans!
at the end of the day one rule for all is the way to go. if its law you cant insult someone based on their colour then either insult em another way and for a different reason or simply accept the punishment instead of bleating about it. But EVERYONE has to take note of it irrespective of colour race or creed.
and kramer is still a talentless waste of space.

as I have said before in other posts, I think that any "ist" is a brand to stop any reasoned arguement. whether or not you have a valid point, the other party can immediately brand you an "ist" whether racist sexist fattist or whatever latest faddy word is around, and thereby discredit any arguement.

i am not racist in any way but i am proud to be a british man and i fly the st georges cross when i can
i am also proud of my wife and child who are technically termed half casts
as soon as people learn the only colour that we ned to worry bout is red the world will be a happier place

This quote was by an american. The US have one of the largest divides of races in the world i.e. different races tend not to integrate with one another, live in different areas, etc. Anyone who has been would understand and recognise that.

My point about the word nigger was that it cant just be the case that if a white person uses the word then its wrong! there cant be a double standard, if a word shouldnt be used then it shouldnt be used by anyone irrespective of race.(the white girl from big brother last year had hell to pay about saying it, however the black lass who mentioned the word several times over the weeks after the eviction wasnt even reprimanded!)
personaly i think that the word lessens the person using it as well as the person on the recieving end.
like i said nothing will change until we dont see a black man or a white brown yellow whatever but simply see a man.
the comments about the candidate in the current US presidential candidate thing they have going on was Barak Obama is an american, rather than an african american. why is there a need to draw attention to someones racial background? My great grandmother and grandmother were american... no one ever discribed either of them as being scottish american! and nor should they.
Can the voters not make up their mind one way or another without their candidates race being mentioned? is it not more important that the man (or indeed woman )has a plan to make a country better than it is?.
oh and bubbles... were you not aware of the Black policemans federation? its a uk thing...so the double standard exists here too.... there would be an outcry if there was a White policemans federation and it would be decried as racist. mobo awards? they are here too.....
RACISM works both bloody ways. and until all can forget something that has no relavence then nothing will change.
and the site hasnt changed.... its still a place where ideas can be debated, a place where folk can be the devils advocate or whatever, subjects can be devisive, some will upset folk does that mean that only fluffy subjects be discussed? Im all for folk debating, i dont much care if someone agrees or not with a stance i might take, its my opinion at the end of the day and its only fair that others have their say also whatever that opinion is.
America is indeed deeply divided on racial grounds but surely you can see that any racially exclusive organisation is devisive and hypocritical. Its not ok for the klu klux klan to march anymore than its ok for the black panthers to march or the nation of islam (itself a self proclaimed hater of white people and jews, the leader of which thinks that hitler did a good job!).
