Right here we go ...
Think back to a momment in your life that involved bikes ...

Something kinda personal that means something to you ...

(obviously i wouldnt expect anything you would want to share with others)

It doesnt have to be extreme or beating Mr Jones next doors 0-25mph kinda stuff
Just meaningful things that in reality we can all kinda relate to because weve all experienced simply riding bikes ...

I'll start with a really insignificant one ...
but i can still remember it ... 30 years on !!!

Me and my mate were out on our mopeds somewhere in East Kent
(yeah u guessed it an FS1-E & AP50)
towards us came a Suzuki GT750 going some over a rise in the road ...
Front wheel off the deck ... KIN ELLLLLLLLL ! i thought !!!! to say the least!
next junction ... to my mate "Did you see that !!!" ... "kin ell" or words to that effect!

I can seriously still remember this as if it was yesterday tho !
(the Kettle was blue by the way lol)

Im getting old arnt i ??? roflmfao!

Oh and another which kinda made me post this ...

again from the summer of '77 ... yep same mate same two peds ....

a stretch of country road between my house and his ...

bimbling along (thats flat out basically!)

And singing at the top of both of our voices "Do Anything You Wanna Do"
(only significant thing 'Eddie & the Hot Rods' achieved Single wise!!!)

Now that was indeed a moment !!! that had two wheels involved!

The summer of 1988 i was riding my RD 350 YPVS with my girlfriend (now my wife) from our house near Glasgow to Nairn up by Inverness, on the way past a wooded area i noticed one of the fence posts was taller than the others, suddenly an eagle of some description opened its wings and flew from the fence post across the road just a few yards in front of us, Big fright and big joy at the same time.
The trip there and back wad better than the holiday itself !!

Another time was just a few years back, my first trip to Applecross, the last leg of the journey takes you 2,500ft over a mountain, nothing quite like inhaling cloud to let you know your alive !!

Passing my test in 2001 was the greatest ever.
Examiner told me I had passed.I already had a bike bought(vt250f),went direct after test, got insurance and tax and spent from 11am that morning until 10pm out on the vt,lol.
Also, getting my first big bike(cbx750) and still have it.Seen a lot off N Ireland on this bike.
Worst memory, having an R driver pull out in front off me,at 70mph,on a mobile, on a dual carriage way.To avoid collision, had to pass them on the hard shoulder(thats how the bike lined up after a bit off hard braking) and subsequently,I swiped their door mirror off with my fist on the way past them......Moron!

Summer '88. riding my superdream down the coast road in the evening past all the holiday camps watching all the lasses going for their night out. ditch the bike at my pals house, go and get drunk, walk home past the camps when all the lasses are trotting back to their caravans. Get up in the morning and go and fetch my bike. Spend the day arsing around ( I was a student on summer break) then start all over again in the evening. Spent pretty much every night doing that for the whole summer.

1997-peak of my biking life. When I went to Lagunas in Maidstone,Kent to collect my new(and hidiously expensive) Ducati 748sps after 2 years saving and a pension. Peoples faces said it all(lucky lucky ***FILTERED WORD*** )-even non-biking peeps looked and knew it was a bit special-And when it was started up--Oh those race bore Carbon Termis!!!! And the first stop to fill it up and a rather nice young lady asked if i could take her for a ride(pity she didnt see it wos a single seater) I named it thereafter-The Minge-Magnet it always was

Spring of '97, coming back from a 1,600 mi. trip (two up at that time). Mountains of West Virginia, (USA). Huge storm came up. You could see the lightening over the top of the mountains on one side of the highway and yet the sound from the thunder seemed to echo from the other side of the mountain highway. That REO Speedwagon song, "Riding the storm out" kept running through my mind. The rain eventually became blinding and we ended up spending over an hour at a rest stop, drying out under the hair dryers. To this day I think of that trip every time I hear that song.
This was a good idea, Martin. Enjoy reading all of everyone's experiences. Thanks for posting it!

Ok. Mid 80s. I was still in school and had a Honda CB125 twin, dead quick for the time. I had a garage right where the main bus stop was for all the shoolkids to get home. One day I came roaring up the road thinking I was King ***FILTERED WORD*** e and pulled up outside my garage while there was a huge crowd at the bus stop. I went to put my right foot down but the kickstart lever had somehow got stuck up the leg of me jeans. I tried to get my foot down but the bike was still running causing the kickstart to engage and the bike went 'RATATATATA' causing about 100 schoolkids to turn around just as I lost my balance and landed on my arse with my leg under the bike. I felt a proper ***FILTERED WORD*** .

Okies 1981 CB400dx Xmas day and a m8 rings me up and says take me to see my brother please.

We are in London his brother is locked away in a prison on the coast of Norfolk.

We went with a a large bag of goodies to take to "mac" rode thru rain hail sleet snow and then it started all over again. Stopped off to have ablutions and found no bog roll, had to use our balaclavas. Got to the prison and then I found out m8 had no visiting order or anything and its not allowed xmas day anyway. So handed bag to warders and went back to experience the same.

We later found out my m8, his bro got one can of coke out of the case, one slice of cake and thats it.

Hey we made the effort, never forget that day froze my nuts off to ensure a m8 got a smile on his face.

PS, he was nicked for theft. 18 yrs olds do silly things. (not bike theft)
