Hi all,
I'm amazed by the complexity of the mobike system here and wonder what yall think of riding a full size bike on a cbt for a while. I intend to take a 2 day DAS course in Feb but I'm trying to save money by getting used to the bigger bike without getting lots of lessons- I've been running around on a 125 and am buying a cb600. What do you think the penalty would be if caught by the ol bill? Would it jeopordize my chances of getting the full license in the future?
cheers & merry Xmas

whats the point of losing your license before you even get it, plus if you've been running round on a 125, a 600 will blow you away with power even though its not particularly powerful, i'd say just wait, get experience and build up towards a bigger bike

What i lack in size i make up in determination!

Got to agree with Si on this one. Personally i reckon you should wait till you have passed your DAS before getting a bigger bike and i reckon choosing a smaller capacity bike would be a good plan, say a CB 500, GS 500, or a GPZ500, any of which are nippy enough for everyday use whilst staying on the right side of the law etc. you can get restrictor kits for larger capacity machines as well (to limit them to 33 bhp, but at the end of the day its not gonna be much fun.)

You're going to have no valid license or insurance so if you get stopped they'll hammer you for it. Have you any experience at all with larger bikes? If you're over 21 you can get lessons on a 500cc with a view to taking your direct access test. Riding a 600 is very different to riding a 125, if you're going to do it you'd better be bloody careful!

Are you mad????
1) No driving licence-ban and large fine
2)No insurance(is a crime not merely a driving matter)-ban and large fine-also if you hurt someone and have no insurance you WILL have the pants sued off you by the motorists insurance federation since they will pay the IPs damages and come after you-it happened to me when a banned driver knocked me off in 1987.He lost his house and business,I gained a new house a new BMW 520i and a limp for the rest of my life
3)Criminal Injuries(same as above)
Really crass stupidity-just be patient it will be worth it in the end

if you want to practice on ya 600 go to a carpark late at night when its empty
but get a mate to drive ya or push it there

i learned to ride a bigger bike by thrashing a 400 round a field and a carpark then when you have finished book yaself in for the direct access its a great laugh and you will enjoy it i did mine in 2001 exactly 2 months after getting my cbt and by the time my cbt had expired i was riding a ducati monster 600

come on fella dont be daft ya gonna get caught i dont care what anyone says.
if ya got a cbt then at least ya can actually ride a bike even if its only a 125cc. i only got a cbt and cant wait for full licence. so i feel ya my friend.
i understand wot ya saying about wanting to save money, but think of saving something much more important than money.
save some lives and STICK TO THE LAW my friend and also if ya get caught ya wont be riding anything and even if ya do get to ride after getting caught ya wont be saving any money cos the insurance will go sky high after conviction of a crime.
sorry for sounding like ya dad but think mate.

depends how much you have to lose... the chavs drive POOL cars , 50 quidders , (one ran into me n me daughter but buggered off) couldnt i.d. 'em not registered etc etc . cops found car but crushed it b4 thay examined it. w****rs! if youre unemployed with no property or money and dont give a ***FILTERED WORD*** ! do what you want! if you've a moral conscience and some bits n bats of nice stuff, that the bailiffs could take,( non payment of fines etc) do it honestly!

Your profile indicates you are not a young teenager, perhaps its time for realisation

No insurance and no licence if you get caught you can forget getting on a bike again.

My partner works in insurance and they will through the book at you forever for it and the police will not take kindly to it either.

I did my CBT and DAS in October and November and passed no problem, dont bother risking it its not worth it.

The UK bike test isn't that hard but its bloody strict, sometimes unnecessarily. Who doesn't ever dab their foot down occasionally on a u-turn? Training to pass your test drums it into you to ride safely though, and if you can't or won't do that then you have to wonder how long you're going to last on a big bike. If I were you I'd get it done sooner rather than later as its getting trickier and more expensive all the time.

do us bikers a favour and dont be an arse.do it by the book or go buy a vauxhall corsa an be a chav.soz if im sharp but i paid a lot of money and put a lot of time into getting my liscence.i do not want to be labelled as a tosser because there are a few people riding round with no liscence giving us a bad name.we get enough crap.put it this way,if someone hit your kid in a car who was speeding,no liscence, insurance, tax, mot, would you just think"oh thet got bored waitin for the test an were just trying the car".jump on a gsxr1000 an then tell me youre ok to ride without a test.i cant ride one at full pelt now after years of riding.sorry to be harsh but really, grow up.
