now sometimes (oh ok more often than not) ebay is remarkably handy for buying bargains and other times you get sellers who are so lazy they wont take the time and effort to put an item in a parcel and want folk to collect an item, now this gets my goat.......the other day i was trying for a replacement pipe for my ratty gpz got in touch with the bloke and asked him if the exahust clamps came with the pipe.... after a while he decided if it was a deal breaker he would include them (at this point his pipe was making about 30 quid due to him not going to post it) so i started to bid on it and led right up till the last few seconds when i was spectactularly out bid it went for 90 odd quid which for a ropey old pipe is quite a price.
anyway i decided i wasnt gonna get a cheap pipe off ebay so had another look at mine to see if it would get through another mot , the clamps are mullard so i bit the bullet and ordered some new ones from a local bike shop hopeing they might be able to seal the pipes to the head better than the old welded up ones (41 quid for 4 clamps...they are C shaped and come in two parts.)
yesterday as i glanced through ebay i spotted another gpz pipe for sale this one was a factory second , it has a small dent in it that is hidden when on the bike apparently, now these pipes cost 307 quid each from motad so not exactly cheap when you consider the gpz500 is a twin, but i thought i would give it a go and have a bid. ended up getting it for 150 quid so better than half price for a brand new pipe trouble is the shiney new pipe is gonna look out of place on the gpz so i will have to tidy the old nail up now lol, oh well.
off to go collect my new clamps and sit back and await the imminent arrival of the shiney chrome thing. oh and motad charged 10.50 for delivery which is reasonable i reckon . so alls well that ends well and ebay saved the day ....kind of anyway.

oh, and the pipe that went for 90.00 was probably 'bid up' by his mate, happens all the time , check his bid history!

It is a commonly used method for sure, my mate does it all the time, although it has lead to him not making the sale a few times by "bidding" to much. Greed , tut tut.

bugger! them xj600's are an ok bike as well..... and yeah i know its a common method of getting a higher price for an item. i reckon this one was fairly genuine as it goes as the cost of a new pipe for a gpz500 is 307 from motad and spare pipes on ebay regularly make around the 100 quid mark. (gonna sell my scabby old one to get a few quid back.)
