Next week I am going for a DAS then on Friday 26th I am going for my Bike Test (First Try)

Hopefully I should pass it though it did take four tries with a car.

So did you pass your Bike Test first time, if not why did you fail?

I have been given the following advice :

Make sure I dont use my break or put my feet down on the U-turn.

Make sure I switch the indicators off after I have finished my manouver.

Make sure I stop at a stop sign and put both feet on the floor.

Make sure I use my lifesaver glance everytime I change direction.

Any other sage advice to make sure I pass first time and dont make any stupid errors.

i know another obvious but very important thing is to constantly check ya speedo and make sure your always in the right place on the road, also maintain safe distances from other vehicles, all very basic but you get marks for each.

Don't forget your rear obs - Left mirror, right mirror, look back whenever you speed up, slow down, change road position, indicate etc. Nod your head at your mirrors when you check them, it looks dumb but you want to make sure the examiner sees you doing it. If you just glance at them he might think you've not checked them. Don't use your front brake on the u-turn it tends to chuck the bike off-balance a bit. If you make a booboo like putting your foot down or whatever, pretend it never happened, there's always a chance the examiner missed it. Don't speed but be sure to make progress. If you pull out at a junction and the examiner doesn't have time to get out behind you, thats good for you because if theres a car between you he won't be able to see you properly. Most of all, chill out. I failed first time because I was fannying about due to nerves. Good luck!

Before you criticise someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do have a go at them, you're a mile away and you've got their f*cking shoes.

Im maybe a bit concerned that your instructor hasn't inspired in you ...
either enough confidence together with all nessessary info on what you need to do!

By the way re: manouvers ... altho this is from way back
re: both car and bike i was always told that as long as you complete the task in control and safely then all will be ok ... which kinda makes sense! lol

i'll admit i passed both my bike and car tests second time!!!
and yes it was ages ago in the days that bear n ox are talking about before all these new style tests ! so whats my excuse you are maybe asking! lol ...
I failed my first bike test because .. .
I touched the back brake slightly before the front on the emergency stop and skidded the back wheel ... after that i lost heart and it probaby showed! lol
Passed my Bike test in Feb of 1979
Think i just had a bad day on my first car test!!!
First time i drove a car (on private ground before you say anything) i was 13 ... Didnt take my car test till i was 21 (passed in May of 1982)

By the way both times i got failed by what was supposed to be the easy Examiner in our area and both times i got passed by the Examiner who was supposed to be hardest to pass with! !!! (b'stard in other words!!! - but not for me!)

Thanks for the tips. He did say front brake, forgot to put front brake sorry for misleading.

I am doing an intensive 5 day course starting with CBT and ending with Test. I am hoping that my years of car driving will help with the nerves on the day.

yes good luck , i passed car and bike first time, just think its a case of keeping nerves under control. for my car test was too nervous to start, and only 5 minutes into test i hit kerb whilst reversing round corner, i corrected it all ok, but convinced myself that i had done enough to fail, so felt no pressure for rest of test. got back and examiner said that hitting the kerb was prob best thing i could of done as after it, i was completely relaxed and drove superbly well.
