And now for a question that I can answer, why do Australians refer to the UK residents as Poms

One of the most common explanations is that it stands for prisoners of mother england I believe. As a footnote after last weeks rugby game sales of condoms have fallen dramatically in Oz same as at last world cup apparently as they now realise it only takes one Johhny to feck them completely LOL

two issues here

1. not all UK residents just the English ones.

2. its short for pommie B'tards

1. pommie

A derogatory term started by Australians to describe recent British immigrants. There is no proof that it had to do with the acronym Prisoners of Her Majesty. It is more likely that it was an abbreviation of the word pomegranate and referred to the flush complexion of Brits (like a pomegranate's flesh) or it was chosen to rhyme with immigrant (like "Larry Flint").

Every Aussie knows that "Pom" is short for "Winging Pommie B***tard."
