firstly, condolensces to t he family.secondly, this prob has nothing to do with the accidents but there are too many bad riders attending meets.ive been to the meet in question.i was on my bandit,2 up,an i followed an r1 all the way.bloke on r1,new leathers, immaculate sliders, mint bike was holding me up all the way and wobbling his way round the roads.gets there an a bloke got cocky on his off road bmw(brand fire new),gives it loads on the grass where loads of bikes are parked an bins it bigstyle.full 360 he did.four bikes were on the floor cos they parked on grass an didnt have the good sense to put a beer can or summat under the stand.are these the kind of people who are buying bikes now?there were more howlers and some downright stupidity.its a wonder no-one was hurt.real, proper bikers know their stuff.these were obviously arseholes who had just pased their test, got more money than sense and thought they were infinitley better than they were.i dont go to meets just for this reason.bassets pole is a prime example.a bloke rounded the bend trying to get his knee down.ive rode that road and the tarmacs had it.trucks ripped it up.i wouldnt even dream of doin that.people were stood on outside of bend watching.for weeks i had been saying someone was goin to get hurt an sure enough he came of an killed some poor bugger.these people arent bikers.they are arseholes.as i say,i hope this wasnt the case in these accidents but we have to ask ourselves how we are going to deal with people before we all get tarred with the same brush.me,i stay away from meets and go to rallies where people know their stuff and the arseholes stay away.i like meets but they are being ruined for us all.

Damn again it happens...................
Yet as stated people stand and watch the "stunters" which encourages them, we are all guilty of it.
Remember Box Hill and the farce there, the rider took out a "crowd member" then was allowed to hide in the crowd and run off. The bike was nicked so no insurance its been on the central reservation as a warning but it still goes on.
Then again rally cars wipe out spectators all the time but they have liability insurance!
Condolences

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming

I have to say that I agree with you on most counts, but one thing you said, and I've heard it before, does annoy me a little. At some point, we all had to ride like we just passed our tests, because we did just pass our tests! We don't pass and then suddenly become an experienced rider. If people come to biking, pass there test, buy new stuff, we shouldn't be mocking them, we should be encouraging them to practice, stay safe and ride more to become experienced. We can't discriminate against someone because their kit or bike is new, that's not right. (and no, my stuff is not new)! I don't mind the underconfident riders so much, it's the overconfidence that kills people.
Be gentle with the newbies, don't shun them, they gotta start somewhere, lets not make them feel like outcasts before they've even found a road in.
I said my piece on that news page too.

its not the new riders, they should be encouraged.its the ones that do a weeks course and then buy an r1 or similar and wobble round bends, nail it on straights then come off cos the bikes way too much for em.if you pass your test why buy a sports bike?every good rider i know started off on a naked bike, bandit or similar.cruisers are a good 1st bike too.fair play if you can afford a new r1 but its bloody stupid to buy one for a first bike.i wouldnt have minded said r1 rider but when youre doing 20 mph under the limit youre a danger to yourself and everybody else.i did a breakdown once in tamworth.posh bloke, had a porsche.bloody nice fella.got chattin an he said it was his second porsche.he crashed the first cos he hadnt bothered doing the driving course porsche reccomended.he did the course and wondered how he ever drove the thing without doing it.its about common sense.you dont pass a weeks course having never even been on a bike then buy a sports bike.i learnt far more on my bandit than i would have done on my cbr600rr.
