Had a great time in Cirencester apart from the bits where my bike kept blowing it's ignition fuse and the AA came out twice and I limped it home swearing at it.

Once it's running it's fine, until I stop. When I stop it's ok. When I try to start it the ignition fuse blows straight away. AA men checked side stand switch and other stuff but couldn't get a logical pattern to form, so they bump started me and I limped home, on the way my front right indicator stopped working too but that was after the problem, not before it.

If anyone has any ideas before I pay the local dealer a fortune (of course the warranty just ran out) that would be ace cuz I wanna go to cadwell on the 26th without this problem re-occuring.

HEEEELLLPP!!!

You need to test the starter motor circuit as it bumps okay bit not starts. A MA reading of the current drawn will be a good indicator, as for the indicator (sorry for the pun) its probably an earth fault so check all the mountings and connectors.

hi there, i had a problem like this before on my old honda. after much head scratching it turned out to be the cable bewteen the starter solenoid and the starter motor, this cable had a crack in it, which we only found after we cut it open. when the starter button was pressed it was causing some arcing in the cable and causing fuse to blow. worth a try as they are only a couple of quid. hope this helps.
i hate electrical problems.

Thanks guys, it's all been stripped down and nothing found other than a bit of moisture in one connection and a slightly chaffed wire casing (doesn't look enough of a problem tho). Now we can't get it to blow a fuse, we even have a 5 amp in there instead of 10 and still can't get it to blow. Will just have to keep using it and see how it goes. Glad I'm in the AA.

See it was more than likely a poor connection hence the MA (Milliamp test) i said to do. Now buy a jar of petroleum jelly ( like you aint got some already :D) and lube all the exposed and even closed connectors!

Should cure the probs.

Well I'm going to take him for a spin tomorrow if the roads are dry (I can't possibly ride on wet ones, I'm far too fabulous)! So I'll let you know how it goes. Mr Ton has adjusted my chain and my rear brake so apart from my indicator bulb I'm ok (that's coming tomorrow courtesy of a good friend, the one who helped to sort the wiring).

Wish me luck!! Did have a great time in Cirencester though despite poor bike!
