dab deodorant or aftershave on 'em, stops the itching.

Aye, my Missus is covered in em. The rest of us are fine though. I got bit the other day by something in the garage. I was moving some crap around and whatever it was got me on the back of the hand. Came up in a blister then went all scabby. This weeks plague seems to be flying ants, big ***FILTERED WORD*** s, they are too. And them orrible little red ones.

I was bitten a few months back and did as we all do, scratched it. An hour later i had a red patch the size of a ten pence coin, by the night it was more like a 50p .Next day and i was round the doctors as half the back of my hand had swollen, by mid-afternoon i was up my local hospital with my arm beginning to swell.
The verdict was 'cellulitis' which is a staphlococci infection, if i hadnt gone to the hospital and gotten a succesful course of antibiotics the next step would have been 3 days in hospital on iv drip, now thats some mossie bite!!
Soooo nowadays if I'm out and about fishing/camping and generally doing what i'd do on a rally I take a bottle of Avon's skin-so-soft stuff with me, not only does it keep the sun/ oil/ whatever ya get yer hands into from causing damage but keeps thjose nasty lil nipers at bay!!

franonacbr, Feel free to come to texas where the mozzies are the size of a quarter. I'm not kidding you. With all the rain we've had it has mad it a breading ground for them. As for stopping the itching i call tell you this as a nurse what will work. Find you a crem with hydrocordisone in it & put a small amount on the bite. It will stop the itching.
To try to keep them away from you if you are outside in your yard working do this & it will also keep all the flying bugs away as well. Get you some small sandwich baggies & fill them part of the way up with water & tie it off. Do it to alot of the baggies & this is why and whay happenes. Now take the baggies outside & tie them up to trees, under the porch, anywhere you can hang them up.
What happens is that when the sunlight hits the water in the bags it makes a rainbow which blinds the flying bugs so they won't come into your yard. Try it, it works because i see it at rallies all the time. I hope it helps some, Lou

Heres a good'un, words of wisdom from my old Dad...

If you're working outdoors and getting pestered by wasps and other flying b**tards, get a rag, soak it in white spirit and hang it up near you on a stick or whatever. They hate it. Its particularly useful if you're one of them daft ***FILTERED WORD*** s like me that runs around flapping you arms about like a gifford if theres bugs about.

franonacbr, I can't say i don't blamb you 1 bit for not wanting to come to texas this year at all. Keep in mind just last month they had over 40 " of rain that fell in the whole month here. It was the 3rd wettest month on record so far. That's why there so big this year.
