After 20 odd years of riding in all weathers in 1995 I gave up and decided just to do my riding in the dry. I was immediately dubbed by some as a fair weather rider:( So what comes around goes around. We hear that the UK is flooded out and there will be no doubt after this summer a lot of low milage bikes for sale cos they coulnt get out to ride: so how about here in central Europe. We cant get out cos its too bloody hot!!! Yup 42c+ air temp/56c+ ground temp-Pilot Power sports are actually leaving lines on the road and the temp inside me expense Berick suit was over 55 degrees afet just 20 mins-So what is a fair weather rider then????

god thats hot yellow, u can't be a fair weather rider in england tho, u wouldn't ride at all lol. i also ride in all weathers...winter and summer (supposedly) but that is mostly down to the fact i can't drive (and not keen on learning either)
don't think i could stick being in leathers in your country, i moan and sweat when its 20c + here!!

Yup, I don't drive a car either so its wet on a bike or wet walking, I know which I prefer. Rain doesn't bother me, its only water. Its the wind that gets me though. Blustery sidewinds can be bloody scary and we've had a few big ones this year. And I'm sick of running down the road chasing my fence panels.

A very interesting point this. Ive ridden bikes all year round as a necessity, get the right gear and the right frame of mind and its bearable, now I ride solely for pleasure and I'm afraid to say when its blowing, snowing, ice cold and the roads are covered in salt and sh*t im afraid I dont get pleasure from going out on my bike, its so much more pleasureable to be on four wheels with a heater and radio etc so yes I openly admit to being a fair weather rider and proud of it too!

I have done my fair share of all year riding when a bike has been my only method of transport. Once, my leather were soaked for about 6 weeks running, I thought it was normal to have water come pouring out whenever I bent a limb! I now have a bit more money, and as such, a bit more choice, it's not that much fun riding in the peeing rain.

I try to look at it like this, I ride my bike at least once a week and whenever else work allows, if it's raining I still go out, but I don't fancy the stuff that is now common and comes right up to your thighs!

If that makes me 'fair weather' then I guess that's what I am. I normally find that those who take the pee out of 'fair weather' riders, are little scrotums who've been riding for five minutes and will be in a hedge bottom shortly.
