well Sandie set off at 8 this morning for her proper d of e experdition. its been throwing it down all yesterday and most of the nite but its stopped for now. The weather forcast isn't that great tho for the weekend. But she was smiling and is up for it. After last weeks practise it turns out that my daughter is a duracell bunny cos while all the others were flagging she was the one getting em all geared up to carry on, funny thing she thought that she lacked determination and it turns out it was there all along. so to say i'm proud of her is an understatement, u have to understand something Sandie is a very girlie girl so to get down and durty and go without hairstraightners and make up is a massive thing lol She also has every intention of not been in pain when she gets back tomoz cos she has to get showered do her hair and make up get a posh frock on cos we r off to a wedding reception lol

so heres wishing Sandie and her 5 walking mates all the best of luck, safe trip, look after each other and don't forget to have some fun along the way.

Walking???? like out in the wilds n stuff? is she mad? tell her to be on the lookout for mad squirrels and killer sheep etc. why is it considered a good thing to walk to the top of a hill when there is a perfectly good road to drive to the top (or in this case to be driven) just to have a look at the view or summat. and as for camping out.... that should be reserved for places with a beer tent!
seriously. good luck with yer D of E award thingy (its the only thing that phil the greek has ever done that he can be proud of.)

SEE folks we have all sorts of peeps visit here........... WELL DONE CHUCKLES!....
dont expect the old duffer to offer you anything usefull like a kebab or a bottle of retsina or nowt mind. but hey you have tramped about in rotten conditions and camped out (with no bloody beer tent either) when it was no doubt wet and miserable. you now know what its like to be a peasant.

someone who thinks the whole D of E is a pile of poo and a way for the children of the middle classes to think they have actually achieved something as opposed to going camping and wandering about braving the elements and mad killer sheep etc.

but what the hell if you enjoyed it more power too ya.

I don't mind who the D of E is for (its open to anyone over the age of 14 tho btw) all i know is it takes some bottle for kids to go out and plan thier own routes through the countryside make sure they have everyting they need, look after each other and above all achieve something on thier own instead of been wrapped up in cotton wool sat behind a x box or computer. its not just about going camping either they have to do a service of some kind for 3 months learn a skill for 3 months and do some sort of physical activity for 3 months, which takes some doing around all the homework and course work and revising for exams they have to do. it also keeps them off the streets and turning in to some sort of a disgrace.
