not to sure thats there's much available for tuning the xv535.... possibly an exhaust upgrade may help i havnt heard of any tuning stuff for em, dosnt mean there isnt any mind.
personally I'd leave it as it is and opt for its bigger brother the xv650 dragstar, bit more poke and still low enough for those short in the leg dept.

for the amount of money you will spend on doing the carbs and what not you might aswell get a bigger motor and shoe horn it the vx frame

well a dyno kit may be a good start and a set of freeer flowing (louder) pipes too.

33" inside leg????? kin ell an amazon.... hang on you used to have a gs1000 now i think about it didnt you?
like i said earlier im not sure if anyone makes any go faster goodies for the 535 as its a ermmmmm beginners cruiser? and not exactly the go faster folks first choice of ride, showhorning in another motor may be a problem due to available space and isnt the 535 engine a stressed member for the frame? more power would make it need better brakes as well and probably better suspension too... al in all it would be cheaper looking for another bigger capacity bike .

Filter, pipes & a rejet for starters. beyond that you're probably be cheaper moving up to the 750 or 1100 versions.
If you go to www.vsoc.org.uk they have a 'For Sale' section which usually has lots of 2nd hand Yammy Cruiser bits. If you pm me, I'll dig up some forum addresses which are a good source of info too.
