I didn't want to but today I have written some code to filter swearwords in the forum. It is not very slick code but works. I am sure the creative ones out there will be able to get around it (although before trying to get around it please see the new agreement when you post).

Advice: Maybe put all the 'bad words' into a text file which gets read each time a post is made to check if a bad word has been used. that way it will be easy to add more words to the list as people become more creative. Alternatively, put the 'bad words' list into the database with an interface for the moderators to add new words as they pop up. Just somethings from my own personal experience that you might want to try.

A front end for moderators may be a long way off but the words are in a table and loaded into an array. Really simple stuff so not perfect how it is done but works in a fashion without too much of an extra load on the server.

Yeah Gixxer, just send the fivers over here. I know of a really good cause.

I think people have brought this upon themselves, the only people who complain about this will be the people that the filter was put in place for. Even though this is biker site, it is also a family site, and the foul language needs to be kept down. Would you say the things you say on here in front of your kids? I think not. So don't say it in front of other peoples kids. Rant over.
