we getting the trial over here in norwich, they also want to include bikes. cant see how that encourages traffic flow. just another "tax" we can pay

its not to easy traffic or even get people using public transport to save the enviroment its just to tax us all some more, we need to do a demo or something cos this is just getting out of hand now how much this goverment is lifting our legs.

i know! lets all just sit on our arses! thats what we usually do! i once organised a RUN (when people ride thier motorcycles in a group) at the time i was a member of a bike club (wyldkatz sheffield) thier spelling not mine, early one sunday morn (11 oclock yawn) 11 of my buds showed, from fzr 400s to zzr 1100s, out of 50 mildtwats , how many showed? ... 1, on an xl250 . i think this sums up the attitude and commitment of the typical british biker today.
i,m all for protest roebs , but just me n thee arent gonna make much impact...

congestion charges ARE nothing more than a sneaky underhand way of taxing folk. Bikes should be exempt from them as they ease congestion rather than contribute to it. As for protesting about it, yeah right, not gonna happen because in this country apathy rules.
All this tree huggin nonsence about saving the environment makes me laugh, there are for sure some folk who truley believe that the planet must be protected from various corporate types and perhaps they have a point, but politicians just see another way of ripping off the populace while appearing to be Green. All we hear about is carbon foot print this and carbon footprint that. its all a load of complete bollo*s.
Nottingham will include bikes in their congestion charges simply because of the volume of folk with bikes in the city (a good sized biker population in notts and the surrounding areas). Its not like voting a different mob in will make a difference either cos they are all as morally corrupt as each other.
Politicians see the Green issue as one they cant be critisiced on and will continue to ride ruffshod over us all with the backing of green parties and tree huggers everywhere.
When you pay for your road fund licence that should be enough to ensure you can ride or drive your chosen form of transport without further taxation but lets face it thats just the start of it. Public transport is a joke. To ensure that folk can actually make use of it they would have to run buses and trains at least every half hour 24/7.
Anyone remember physics at school? i was told you cannot create something from nothing.....IE. the carbon that is "produced" by the internal combustion engine already existed. Every living thing on the planet is carbon based! we need the carbon.
bloody hippies!
Global warming is another buzz word/phrase that is overused by the powers that be as well could the scientists be ignoring that the planet is still coming out of the last ice age? Time when measured by the way a planet evolves is measured in thousands of years not in 10's or 20's.
Bloody hippys will say anything the tree huggin bastids. FTW.

To be in the first congestion charging zone in the country and experienced it day to day perhaps i can offer some advise.
The rich dont give a t**s they buy a yrs worth and thats it! Local businesses suffer from less "off the street" trade. Traffic patterns changed most certainly on its introduction here....guess why.......IT WAS INTRODUCED IN A SCHOOL HOLIDAY PERIOD!!!!!!!
Wow 1st day and the traffic was so light........good con....!
Forget to pay you were fined £80, now they give a days grace but for an extra £2.This is the main reason i now have a LPG/petrol vehicle. As it is congestion charge free.
motorcycles in London are free, and we have more than any other city, so you are being royally screwed if this is the case of charging for them. The main reason for the surge in bike moped and scooter sales is precisely the congestion charge. The free parking, the speed as opposed to public transport. Even pushbikes have become more popular.
Statistic's show improved average road speed, well blow me down with a feather, not noticed it myself. Still takes on average a hour to travel 10 miles!!!!!
No change there then.
Watch out as well for the increased parking charges, all combined to keep cars out!
Example of a day in London:
Start journey to work, skirt around con gest boundary (remember this is in normal fueled car) save £8.00.
Get to office pay £5.00 to be on the safe side to park.
Go to site hit con gest charge zone, pay £8.00
Park in NCP as meters only allow 4 hours tops..£48.00
So to do a days work = £61.00........thats without eating or drinking a cup of tea!
Welcome to the new world of being green
