Whether this is normal for the country but there is a dreadful smell of sewage in this house and its not the same as cows that are in the field at the back ..I ve used my nose to tryand track the source and its not in the loo..am armed with bleach and rubber glves any suggestions...clean ones..lol

funny u should say that darcey i am sniffing round in the office cos that has a sewage smell too!! ........... unless its something dead somewhere.

You should have a inspection cover somewhere, big metal sheet in the floor. Lift that up and see if its backed up. If it had get a stick and poke about where the sides meet the floor in , the hole is there some where, then hose it. Thats what i do anyway

Hello Darcy. Question the first: are you on a septic tank or connected to the main sewer? There should be several LIGHTWEIGHT manhole covers round the house, usually with checkerplate tops and two recessed handles for lifting. You will not get into trouble for lifting the covers on your own land but DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES put your head below groud level to check inside.
