dude... dont stay in centraal or anywhere around canal strasse... if yer feeling like a lucky dip....get to centraal station... go to tourist booking and ye'll have everything from 5* to grot hole..... getting a to b is no problemo trams everywhere all through the day and night and dirt cheapness

nope just turn up at centraal train station during business hours.... dude with a town like the dam yer can party yer booty off.... watch fer the scumbags who hang about by the bridges off canal strasse they'll fleece ya in a blink of an eye.... speakin of canal strasse whatever ya do dont go into the greenhouse connection...its full of vile chess playing, coffe drinkin aromatic doobey smoking likeable travellers and tourists;)

Went a bank holiday without booking, we ended up sleeping on the floor at Centrall Station.....
My advise is to book in advance, maybe one of the canal boats near canal strasse is a good idea heheheheheh.
Dont bother with the Bulldog its full of brits stoned.
Forget the name of the bar but go to this one.......get to Dam Square with Centrall Station behind you, its a 5 min walk, once into the square go forward as you come to the bridge turn right and take the 1st bar to the left. Hans owns the place (still does i believe) hes a ex VP of the dutch angels. Top bloke, but dont mess with him lol.
And Enjoy its a great city.

Right,there is a good pub down a bit from the train station called "the grasshopper".
Its 4 floors.The basement is the grass floor.The next 2 are louenge/bars and the top floor is a restauraunt.I think there is actually two grasshopper pubs in the dam.
Another good coffee shop (cant remember how to get to it!) called"the doors",named after the band.
Personally,I liked the grasshopper.Just go,enjoy and get wiped!LOL
