Mike has been in an accident on his bike yesterday involving a car. I don't know all the particulars of the accident. I do know that he is in intensive care and might possibly lose his left leg. I know he was conscious at some point because he asked that Scott and I be contacted but we are not allowed to visit him just yet because we are not family. I'll keep you all posted...... Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Connie

Mike's had the neck brace removed last night and is looking a lot better. He is still in intensive care as there still is grave concern over his leg. He isn't sitting up or anything like that but looks a lot more comfortable. I will keep you all informed of his progress. Thank you all for being so caring.

Mike is looking much brighter in himself and has managed to eat some breakfast this morning. Blood flow in his leg looks good til mid-thigh, so the outcome of it is still undetermined. Results from yesterdays x-rays look good and nothing else seems to be broken. Mike is in a lot of pain and doesn't want anyone to see him like that at the moment. So we will need to wait until he is feeling better and stronger before we go to see him. Fingers crossed he will stop hurting as soon as possible. Upsets me to know he is in pain. His wife saw pictures of the bike and said its a total mess!

Update on Mike: Spoke to Mike's mother this evening. The worst has arrived. Mike will be undergoing surgery tomorrow to have part of his leg removed. They won't know how much until they are into the procedure. Could either be just below the knee or mid thigh - depending on the tissue damage due lack of blood flow. He has the top vascular surgeon in the country so he's the best man for this job. His mom said he has taken the news better than expected. His sister (who is now in a wheelchair) has given him the inspiration that he will be able to manage in the future. Keep him in your thoughts today. He needs all the good vibes we can send his way. They will keep us posted on when he will want visitors. When he gets moved out of high dependency, I'll get the address to send anything people may want to send to him for those of us too far away to visit.

all this is a bit too close to home for me, but I was lucky enough to keep my leg. I wish him all the best, and my thoughts are with him. Can't be an easy thing to deal with.

omg that's terrible news Sorry I can't be there to support him too, although it seems that he has everybody do everything they can for him already. My thoughts are with you today and going forward Mike, get well soon and I look forward to speaking to you at some point over the future weeks of your recovery. xxxxx
