just had a leaflet through my door saying "vote for labour" in the local elections on 3rd May .......... now i won't be but there was something interesting on this leaflet. Apparently since the Lib Dems took over Chesterfield 4 years ago the car parking charges alone have gone up by wait for it ........... 878% !!!!!!!!!!! and its set to go up by more too and there r threats to charge blue badge holders as well pmsl i thought it was getting more expensive lol and apparently our council are forecasting to lose money between now and 2009 ......... maybe they shouldn't have put that brand new reception and walk way up to the housing office then eh? especially when there was nothing wrong with the old one. its a joke and all the local councils r as bad as one another ........ they should be run as a business, keeping costs done for the consumer, offering good services and all they have to do is manage there money better and not waste it on usless crap!!!!!!!!!

I think the most frustrating thing is there appears to be nothing we can do about it . Is there? Please say if you think there is. We seem to have become a nation of ditherers, not our fault entirely . I think its your only chance to become independant in Scotland. Although be prepared for invasion...! ffs. I am scared of the likelyhood of staring down the barrel of a tank if a rebellion took place.

better than that Bear, it's a subsidised bar. And Fish it's just not true. Scotoiland has absoiloutely nothing that Engoiland needs. Except Scotch.

dunno about incompetance fish it seems well dodgy to me 200,000 votes being lost or invalid theres bound to be a bit of hue and cry about that and rightly so. Not sure wether Scotland should go for independace though. As for any invasion that would only happen if everything became much cheaper than this side of the border lol.

Bear: please accept my apologies for going off on one earlyer and calling you a numpty. I was somewhat upset at Rev and his attitude and the fact I seemed to get castigated while he wasn't...again, sorry and I'm sure your not a 'numpty'.. your really a very very nice person. xxxx sprag ..................................................... Rev: I don't really understand where you get the idea I'm 'proud' of the fact I vote for who I do { I own a beautiful motorcycle and I'm proud of that } but pride in who I vote for???? I simply vote for the one party who have the balls to come right out and say what a great many Brits would love to say but dare not due to the PC/nanny state we live in and what their neighbours would say if they found out they too thought the same and voted for them. ........................................................ I shall say no more about my party of choice and I wont bother trying to justify my reasons and further than I have already as I feel it would be a waste of time and web space becuase it clearly rubs 'some sensitve types' up the wrong way............ now this motorbike I'm 'proud of'....... did I tell you it was a brand new [07 plate] Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Cuatom? yes? oh sorry, but you see I'm so proud of it. lol ok form an orderly queue here to insult me for my choice of bike :-)

The borders will always be open to you all and I am not convinced about independance. My heart says yes but my mind no. The main problem I have with it is the numpties who would be running the place. Dont trust one of them a mm (see I've even gone metric) now that leads me on to the EEC......................... nope not enough time or space here

mneh fish, im afraid i cant agree with you about independance, and im in no way swayed by the 'westminster propaganda' i have deliberatly avoided tv for just that reason. my veiws are based entirely on the facts, and i as i can see it, scotland cannot survive without england giving us a lot of money! they pour in billions to our economy each year, and the SNP want to base our entire economy on the oil found, which will run out within 30 years, and will probably have such a high tax rate for not being environmentally friendly by that time that no one will be using it. We dont have the structure to run things ourselves. i think this divolved state is really well, we've made a better job of the nhs than the english have, and our economy and unemployment rates are looking better all the time. but full independance will ruin us and now that bloody alex salmonds gone and got in *glares* stupid stupid stupid man! stupid voters!!!

I this is true then i have a little bit of a problem with it ......... now this is in very simple terms as I'm not right up on it to be fair ........... but as I see it Scotland wants and now has its own parliment and they want to run everything theirselves but yet we give u the money to pay for everything, is this correct?

oh btw .......... just been driving through sheffield and listerning to the local radio .... now apparently they have a hung council between Labour and the Lib Dems but in some boroughs the BNP was second and in the reporters words not mine, this is very worrying. make of that what u will but they r obviously having support and if that carrys on how long do u recon it will be b4 they have some power. maybe the people r having a say and if they r voting BNP there say is enough is enough.

the english dont give us the money,,what makes you think that?.if thats the case,,we as taxpayers also fund the uk westminster......and im not a nationalist..but why is it the english always think they fund us??no one funds me...i do..and pay all the same taxes as everyone and more.unemployment up here is virtually nil....thats why so many english,,poles etc live here....up here in north scotland theres about 15% english,,,,and we all get on fine..well most do..in fact my next door neighbout, from sunderland, votes snp...

no, thats not correct roeby :) lol us scottish do not by any way run everything ourselves, we have certain devolved powers, which we fund ourselves, such as healthcare, and certain schemes such as free care for the elderly, now all of these are funded mostly by the Scottish Parliament, through 'our' taxes. The Uk parliament (westminster) also gets quite a lot of our taxes, and sets laws on 'reserved' powers, which are laws like the hunting ban, and things to do with crime and suchlike, and nationwide benefits inclusing income support, and minimum wages. So to implemment these laws, the Westminster gives scotland money, as they do with northers irelend and whales. its all fair really!
