Do not be ashamed of what Jane Goody did but be ashamed for what your country has become. I have visited and lived in the UK for periods of time since the 70s. The reason I loved UK was the way it was, an English country that gave me an opportunity to be myself at the same time learn many things that I wouldn’t learn in my country. I intergrated with the local society while still celebrating my own differences and made many friends. In all those years it never occured to me to impose my ways ‘Arab, Islamic’ on my friends or your society. I joined in all your celebrations including x-mas and easter while still celebrating my Ramadhan and Eids. Take a chapter from UAE - the responsibility of UAE Government and Society is to its own people first and foremost. We are all welcomed to live here and they are ready to compromise with us on certain issues but will not forsake sensitivies of its people for our sakes. I do not like the new labour version of UK because it has stripped you of what was wonderful about Britain - its Englishness. Your wonderful history, your heritage, your faith and beliefs even your personalties are being wiped out by so called ‘Blair Political Correctness’. Yes by all means be ashamed but be ashamed because you have a government that is erasing you and your identity and the right to be yourself whether good or bad, erasing the beauty that attracted people to your country in the first place

Froog you truely are a bloody idiot,you have zero concept of life in the middle east,ignorant ass holes like you are one of the many reasons normal hard working Britishers are leaving the country.I would like to see just how many "normal" people in this room given half a chance would bale to live and work abroad.The purpose of the initial post was not to pull the country down,god knows your exsistance alone shows just how crappy the place has become,but to show that even other nationalities think that MY country of birth has become an international joke.Now crawl back into your cave and let the adults talk.

well i read the piece again.... and i still only get the bit that an arab bloke is telling us that our government feels more concern for ethnic minorities than it does for the culture of this islands indiginous people. Political correctness is a curse on modern civilisation, and the liberal left are PC's greatest proponants.
the arab bloke isnt decrying our country but mourning the loss of our national spirit.He points out the government in UAE are happy to have anyone live there and work but they arnt about to make laws that would upset its nationals.... unlike here.
there is nothing i can see to read between the lines. He isnt saying we should be ashamed of our country but of our government (and not for the usual reasons ) for the way it has ridden ruffshod over our traditions and pandering to forign nationals that are more interested in destroying us than becomeing part of us.
mr Ali states that he lived here in the 70's and that he saught to intigrate with us, enjoying our culture whilst also celebrating his own. If only todays immigrants felt the same.
a while back a reporter was in america, he was amazed by the number of immigrant taxi drivers in washington, he was even more amazed when he asked the nationality of those that drove him, (folk from russia, africa,etc) for their reply was always the same "im from here, im american". always said with pride despite the fact they were obviously (from accents) not all that long in the country.
The EU does make laws its true.... but so does Tony B liar (the european human rights act and the UK human rights act are two seperate pieces of legislation.) blair said he was going to be tough on crime and the causes of crime...... havnt seen much progress to be honest. ASBO's are seen as a badge of honour FFS. prison officers have been told not to restrain prisoners, and to wear polo shirts rather than the uniform (because the prisoners feel the uniform to be too intimidating!!!!), this country is bending over backwards to accomodate the criminal .
This country was once great, and perhaps one day shal be again, but one thing is for sure it wont rise to be great whilst the politically correct have their way.
Thats what i get from Mr Ali's statement, not an attack on us but a sad inditcment of our current trend of government.

Bear, How we each interpret /perceive the contents of the statement in question matters not, but an individual has the right to put ones opinion to an open statement.
I have done so and such expresses my opinion and beliefs of the content, yourself and other members of our chat room interpret such in a different light, and this is an indiviuals right to ones opinion,and I respect that.
However dear friend what was a lively dabate on the statements contents, appears now to have generated some unsavoury comments, to which i respect the members of this room to much to become involved in.

fair enuff bob..... wanst having a go at you in any way was merely interested in your point of view.... wether or not i would have agreed isnt relevant. but without your point of view there can not be a constructive (or otherwise) debate.
thats what occurs when differing views are aired. Debate is fine, whilst degenerating into insults would leave anyone esle to believe that a persons point isnt valid if you see what i mean.... anyhow everyone is entitled to an opinion and others are entitled to think otherwise.
