just looking at the number of folk joining the site. i also notice very few of them actually use the forum or the chatroom.... would it be a good idea for mark to add a welcome email so that once folk have joined they get a message saying welcome etc and also encoureging them to use both facilities. I just get the feeling folk are waiting to hear from peeps on the site, maybe they think its a dating site and are awaiting responces from others.... read some of the comments on the profiles you will see what i mean.
anyone else got any ideas to get more folk in the chatroom/forum? if so post em here.

well it could be used as a dating site i suppose ...(froog's been doing that or trying since he joined lol).
what i mean is... if you have a look at the profiles of newbies the bit about themselves seems to come across as folk looking for partners. maybe im wrong in that assumption but either way if, on completing the joining details you got a message telling you that to get the most from the site you should post on the forum and try out the chat room it may make a difference to the usage of the room.
and heres an idea for the american members.... we know that we are 5 hours ahead of you and that chances are when you guys are online we will all be asleep (folk such as nightowl for instance) the chatroom is still open and can be used so why not use it.... there are plenty of american members so surely its a case of trying to organise yourselves via PM's to arrange when to use the chatroom from.
maybe a sticky thread in the forum would be an idea too like "newbies post here and tell us about yourself". mark would have to figure out a sticky feature but shouldnt be too much hassle for him (hopefully).
its a good site this and deserves to be used by more of the membership is all im saying , but how to get em to participate is something we are all going to have to think about.

and how about some sort of indicator that shows wether there is anyone in the chatroom when for instance your havin a look on the forum? i mean if you are checking out the threads and you can see that someone is in chat then it would be more likely to pop in there.

good ideas there bear ......... i'll ask Mark to sort something for us, the only problem is at the mo that we r snowed under at work and we r doing our bathroom too so spare time is a luxury we just don't have at the mo. but i will try to get something sort as soon as we can.
