was there really a Bermuda triangle or was it just that the cold war was on and the Russians and Americans kept pinching stuff?

Some scientists are now pointing the finger of blame at an interesting chemical by the name of Methane hydride that lurks beneath the surface of many areas of the ocean and can do some quite unexpected tricks.

Could well be fossilised dinosaur farts, no-one is quite sure how it formed. Maybe, as diamonds were once coal............

watched a documentary on it recently, still suprising numbers of ships going missing, I think it was somthing like 35 a year, even with todays technology. they believe that a gas combined with certain light/weather conditions affected planes visablity and pilot co ordination but now planes rely less on human imput and therefore less incidents.

Basically........... Methane hydride = solid at certain temperature and pressure, if temp increases or pressure decreases it sublimates (goes straight from solid to gas) into methane and boils to the surface. If a boat (of whatever size) is going over the area it will sink immediately and without warning as the density of the water is massively reduced (try this at home - float a toy boat whilst you are in the bath and do a HUGE fart. Maybe not). Planes flying through a cloud of methane may suffer caatstrophic explosion and /or failure of navigation aids due to ionisation affects (not too sure about that one).
