The new Mr Ton has passed his bike test and is now riding my ickle monster for practice. The exciting bit is that he is buying us a pair of spanking new 1098s Ducati's - how cool is that, I mean me, on a 1098s, omg. Should I have the red, or the black?

Advice please?

I hear ya, but I've heard the black is sort of 'milky' finish - I'm going to scoot off and see one in the flesh before I decide!

they are both gorgeous in the flesh
get one in black and the other in red and you can both swap over now and then

He has a few, but that's not what's important, the important thing is he's now a biker and will hopefully enjoy lots of happy times out and about on two wheels. He works bloomin' hard and gives most of his time to others so it would be cool for him to get some really nice biking memories, and of course I'm very lucky because I get to share them.

i take your point but disagree. I took the ariel atom out and did about half the speed that it is capable of because i'm not an idiot. I had a great time without having to max things out. Same applies with the bikes. We're both well aware of the pitfalls of riding like a moron and we both know the throttle works both ways. I thought after all we've been through you guys might be pleased for us but hey ho.

Grats on the bike's and well done converting him to 2 wheels! I'm just amazed they will insure a new rider on one of those.

Sorry Mart, not really meant for you, more for the one after you hun. But thanks for the good wishes. I was surprised they will insure us, I've had one quote so far for £901 and Mr T is able to get insurance, will it be his age that makes it ok? Anyway it's really cool and we' re both dead excited. Neither of us believe for one minute that we will use full power until we've been in the saddle a lot longer and had some more tuition. So for those more cynical, don't worry, we got it covered!!

happy and safe riding ton. glad everything is going great for ya.

on the insurance front it doesn't matter what age u r its a case of if u r a new rider u get the bigger quotes ...... if u get one at all. when i first got the blade cos i had only been riding for 6 months most insurers pissed themselves and wouldn't even quote me lol

see what you're saying Roe, but Mr T has a good insurance man because of the ariel atom, they're pretty difficult to insure as I'm sure you'll guess. Where there's a 1098s there's a way!! We're going out and about as much as we can on my baby monster, I know it's a total different bike, but a bike's a bike and experience is all good.

I'm actually very proud of you all, if you think about it the guys on here give motorcycling a good name. I've had lots of good luck sent but also words of caution and safety and wisdom - see we're not the mindless speed freaks everyone thinks we are ....................................... or are we? lol

I'm off for a new tattoo tomorrow too so I'm very excited indeed. I've not done any of the work I should have and right now I'm in MacDonalds for the free wi-fi downloading songs from iTunes and not doing any work!

Joy
