Its always a shame when this occurs but the riders know the risks and still perform to the limits of their skill so all credit to them The spectator issue is a problem at any road race I expect there will be calls from H&S to ban it which again is a shame

I don't suppose there would be much point in racing if there was no risk involved, the best you can hope for is that the risk is minimised by protective gear. Like Ken says, anybody into motorsport knows the risk and accepts it, otherwise they wouldn't participate.

Don't know about the spectators, because I don't know the circumstances of the accident, and whether they were where they should be or not. It's a bloody shame because I have no doubt that it will start up the same old arguments about road racing being too dangerous again. I suppose all spectators want the best vantage point....did they take a risk in doing that?

So, in answer to your question Ox, I don't have an answer, but, at least they all died whilst doing something that they were passionate about, and better that than just keeling over when you're 90 without ever having had a passion

Oxy, of course BB is not more important. It is a terrible shame when riders or spectators die but we all know it's a risky sport. That doesn't help families though or relatives. I know my parents hate me riding a bike even tho I ride it like a little old woman going to collect my pension! But the know I love it and am as such prepared to take the risk.

Of course my heart goes out sincerely to those who have lost anyone, particularly at the TT.

Just wondered if anyone has noticed, thats all.

Respects to the family of the spectator`s, also the rider. They all knew the positions they were in and accepted the risks involved.

TT is about risk, why its so widely respected.

Glad you lot take notice.

cheers

My condolences to the families of those killed and injured.

The TT is the greatest road race in the world, followed by the NW 200.

Both these races are by their very nature the most dangerous forms of motorsport anyone can take part in.
Road courses will always carry more risk than purpose built tracks with all the safety features they offer. Having said that I still believe it's the purest form of racing and has a huge following from both racers and fans. I count myself amongst those fans too.

I don't take my kids to races because even at the safest of venues accidents will happen and i don't think I have the right to expose them to possible injury from out of control race machines.

It's a damn shame it happened but will point out that it's racing and unfortunatly occasionally accidents like this will happen.
Nature of the beast I'm afraid.

Once again, my condolences to all the families concerned.

And I for one don't bother with BB but do watch the coverage of the TT.

Regards

Gary

i dont watch racing...... never have it bores be to tears. as for the deaths at the TT i hadnt heard of any cos i havnt been watching the news of late due to being busy with other things, having said that there are folk die at the TT every year it is after all the most dangerous race of em all and at the speeds they travel at and in the environment of a road race the chances are you are gonna hit something solid rather than slide into a gravel trap. It is sad that folk die on the island and my thoughts are with the relatives etc but at the end of the day if its racers who died then they knew the risks (dosnt make it any less sad).

Its a tragedy when people die on the island but to ride on the edge with no room for error is a risky business, the only thing i would say is whether Dave Jefferies dies or Joe Bloggs dies, they are both human beings doing what they love and its a shame that the lesser names that die are maybe not paid as much of a tribute or maybe a harsh word, forgotten...
