did anyone watch that driving me mad programme on itv @ 9pm last nite? well it was all about slagging off 4x4 ........ it was a really biased view in my opinion. Not only were they saying that they give out more co2 emissions they were saying that if u r hit by one u r more likely to die. well on those 2 points alone u had better rid our roads of all vans buses and lorrys then cos they r far bigger and there r more of them on the road and they chuck out loads of crap. they showed u an accident of a 4x4 doing 60mph going in to the side of "normal" car doing 30mph anyone in the "normal" car would have been dead. all it made me think was that i wanted a 4x4 far more than i already did cos if u r gonna have a crash i want to be in one of them.

I drive 4x4.. wouldn't be without it ever since I rolled one on M25 (which was caused by an idiot but I won't go into it) If I had been in any other car.. we would all have been dead.. no doubt about it. Police wondered how we got out alive. So just for personal safety I say we should all drive them. So there! LOL spacie xx

Nowt wrong with 4X4's in their place....ie in the countryside where there are places to take it off road! whats the point in having a chelsea tractor in a city environment? they do indeed guzzle fuel and pollute more than other personal transport does and they arnt known for being efficient when driven slowly (at city speeds). They seem to be driven by folk who have a few quid but wouldnt know a decent car if it bit em on the arse! If its good enough for her down the road to take tarquin and elspeth to school in and do her weekly trip to sainsbury then we should also get one!seems to be the thought of those that get Disco's and the like TAX the buggers hard and let common sence prevail. keep 4X4's in rural areas where they arnt so much a status symbol but a practical thing for getting you and yours away from a farm or out and about when there is snow etc....... Tounge firmly in cheek....^

ahem !!!!! i drive a big arse 4x4 and would never never change, they are far far safer than any car on the road today, i have horses i know and do use it occasionally off road and for pulling trailers etc ,but even if i didnt i still would keep this vehicle, what annoys me as well is when people say about the emissions, this vehicle and most other modern 4x4 are well below the emissions of any old car still on the road and also a majority of the white vans on the raod, they dont guzzle fuel that much compared the vehicles of gone by years admittedly mine doesnt do forty plus to the gallon but still does more than an equivalent renault 25 i drove twenty years ago. i honestly think that alot of people pick on 4x4s thru jealousy much as we take the mick out of blokes driving sports cars, these vehicles are soooo much safer and the driving position is well above all the other cars, i have also found that when driving a car for a day im cut up soo much by other road users and when in my 4x4 im given respect on the road,, anyhow putting the road tax up by a few quid sure aint gonna stop me. while on this issue can anyone tell me why my 17 tonne truck which spouts emissions for a living has tax cheaper than most family cars ? always seemed a bit strange that one, apparently if i drive that all day long its absoulutely fine cos lorries seem to be missed out of this equation. anyhow rant over , just about to get back into my gorgeous 4x4 and pick tarquin up on the school run xxxxxxxxxx

when we were picking our new car i begged Mark to get me the X5 but he wasn't having any of it so i even said i would go for a Range Rover but he said bollox to that too lol But all is not lost i'm still working on him it maybe an older one given that we have just spent a fortune on the new car but i really really want one, especially for been able to take Jake out and about more. I loved having mine and i am amazed that everyone doesn't have one. I would pick a 4x4 over anything even a nice soft top. (been there done that) and i can't take a muddy dog in a cream leather nice sports car!!!!

I wouldnt say you get more respect, Ive found most people in 4x4 bully there way through traffic cos everyone moves out their way. No one gives way in 4x4s, just bomb straight through the gap and make everyone dive out the way.

why does no one have a go at 17 ton trucks ect???? cos they are generally delivering goods to business's as far as i know they pay loads of tax both direct and indirect. A 4x4 is not a nessesity unless you live in a rural area. like anyone needs a 4x4 to take the dog for a walk???? or got shopping in its a status symbol for most folk there is absolutly NO need for one in a city (having said that the road surfaces are a disgrace and at least a 4x4 could cope with em. As for folk getting out of the way of a 4x4 that isnt respect its intimidation. They are not as safe as you would believe either.... a mate of mine used to work for landrover and he wouldnt have one as a gift he has seen too many with crushed roofs. Hey roe if ya want a 4x4 how about an old landy such as a defender then? its a 4x4 and will outlast any of the posh ones you could care to mention and the dog couldnt mess it up either...... or is that not the kind of image you want to go with?
