So cut down its basically to do with the age of the mosque and the people who built it.
Another theory is that alla ? mohammed? can never remember saw the moon this way when he envisioned his god. Another is to celebrate the defeat of the Macedonian`s trying to tunnel into their city by the crescent moon appearing and highlighting the attempted invasion.
